Nice kit for using your NMO antenna on a mast
Very nicely built, good quality, machining was perfect, attention to details! Will buy again and am recommending them to our ham club.I do suggest a slight modification to make these work even better in many instances: the radials thread nicely into the base but many NMO antennas mount-shells will screw down to nearly the threaded radial holes of this kit. If you first screw all the radials into the base (they all start their threads at exactly the same point- very well done) and mark the top on each knurled radial grip, then you can take a thin disc grinder (bench-mounted is best to prevent accidentally over cutting and ruining your radial!) you can then take just enough of the knurled part off to allow the NMO shell to tighten down without binding on the radials. Works great!

Great ground plane kit.
Got this ground plane kit to test on my mobile rig. Tested this two different Comet antenna. One is a Comet CSB790A and a Comet CA-2x4SR. Both are dual banders.Though these antenna are mounted on a 1"x2" extrusion style rack. Though I have a decent grounding from the rack to the steel roof on my 1999 Toyota 4-Runner. This ground plane kit helps with the SWR a tad bit. On the Comet CSB790A antenna. It's a UHF style and I got a NMO adapter for the antenna mount. So with that being said. I tested the SWR and wattage output from my ICom 2730A mobile radio with the MARS mod using a Surecom SW102 meter and a Sysjoint NanoVNA-F V3 analyzer. One to test the harmonics and resonance of both antenna on 2m and 70cm bands. Both were tested on the 2m and 70cm calling frequency. Was able to make several contacts about 40+ miles away with full quieting. This kit did improve a tab but nut I don't plan on using this while being mobile. This kit best work on attaching the supplied stainless steel bracket to a post or pole using two supplied heavy duty hose clamp where there's no flat metal object to use a ground plane.I haphazardly attached this to my wooden fence and it did to reduce and lower the SWR quite a bit.Everything helps when you're trying to make that connection either simplex or trying to hit that long distance repeater long distant away. Also Nagoya said you can use this while mobile but my highly not the SWR don't help much or at all. But word of caution is that if you wish to use this while driving. I would recommend use medium strength thread locker on the hardware before you start driving.Great ground plane kit with no issues other than the set screw is small. I almost 4 of them.I would recommend this to any mobile HAM operatiors especially when you're at park with just a wooden post or tree you can attach the bracket to.

Useful for converting mobile antennas for temporary base use.
I bought this to convert mobile antennas for temporary fixed use. It is an NMO base with 4 radials. Easy to mount and does the job. Not for permanent use. It is not nearly robust enough, but excellent for setting up temporary base at special events, camping and travel. The supplied hose clamps will mount it to a variety of poles. I'm using a photo light stand. Also ordered an NMO to UHF adapter for antennas with UHF base.Like it well enough to order a second one, but had to return that one due to a defect. Replacement already on the way.

Performs beautifully!
I bought this to build a GMRS base station and compared to other brands I’ve used, this outshines them all. I use it with the Midland 6db gain Mobile NMO antenna, 50ft of RG58 on a 14ft home brew push-up pole and I’m now able to hit a repeater 50 miles away with ease every time. Previously, I had a browning uhf stick-type antenna that wasn’t making contact. The difference is much better receive and way better transmit without frequency splatter. It’s not a huge ground plane. The ground radials are thin, but no so long that they sag beyond being functional. If you want to build a micro base, you can do it with one of these and a quality nmo antenna.

Converts mobile antenna into base station
This is an excellent replacement for the white antenna typically used on a house. My HOA said no the fiberglass stick but a mobile antenna has not been seen and works great.

Junk not a true NMO mount
This is a Bulkhead PL-259 connector NOT a NMO mount and it's performance shows. Absolute junk, antenna on a magnet mount on a cookie sheet at 5ft high works but place the same antenna on this mount 25ft up in the air and NOTHING.

as advertised
Item as advertised.Easy to install with a mobile antenna giving it a good ground plane. Mounting bracket not too bad either.Does come with UHF radials and additional extensions to make it work better on VHF.Well constructed and looks fairly sturdy.

Works as a ground plane. Set screws on radials were bad.
This review is about the ground plane kit:It's a ground plane kit -- it works. However, I found that only one of four set screws on the radials would work. The threads were cut too deep, so the screws would not engage with the thread while the radial was in place. Since I was preparing a semi-permanent installation, I just ended up soldering the radial parts together.
