Worked great!
Most economical way to monitor Malolactic Fermentation. I found when strip dries is where most accurate color comparison can be apparent.

Good for Qualitative Testing
If you need to know whether your malolactic fermentation is finished, this can probably do the job. The test output ranges from 0 mg/L malic acid to 500 mg/L. You can pretty confidently determine a zero or near-zero point, but the 30 mg/L to 500 mg/L range is not well-delineated.You shouldn't plan to use this test to quantify malic acid levels, just to determine presence / absence.

Easy!
If you're a small winemaker you can do paper chromatography (messy, complicated, takes time, nasty chemicals) or send your wine to a lab. Until now. With these test strips you can get a virtually instant result. Expensive, but worth it.

Useless and unreliable
I should know better than to hope for an inexpensive solution to something that is typically done in a laboratory. But that was my hope with this product. After considerable time of malic fermentation my wine was showing all of the physical senses signs that it was Malic Dry. However, these strips continued to show the presence of Malic Acid. Finally I did a test which still showed Malic Acid present and also took a sample into a good friend who is a winemaker and has all of the fancy expensive equipment to do the testing right. The results? Malic Dry. If I had trusted these useless and inaccurate test strips I would have continued to wait before going to the next steps in the winemaking process and in that time risked the wine going bad. Thus through this process I have qualitative proof through laboratory testing that these strips are not accurate and for your wine they could be potentially harmful. And before a reader jumps to the conclusion that this is due to operator error I will add that I have a science background and have spent more than my fair share of time in a chemistry lab using test strips of various kinds. I am fully confident that I was using this product properly. Do not waste your time or money.

So simple - convenient
These are great for testing your MLF completion - I’m so glad they are on Amazon...my local wine making supply store doesn’t carry them!
