Can you remove the thumb studs on the knife?

We suggest that you wrap the pliers with a cloth when disassembling, and then twist the thumb stub to avoid scratching the blade. Does the black stonewash scratch easily?

Depends on what your using it for. Like most black coatings it shows marring easier than a stone wash finish and it will eventually get scratched...but to me it's worth it. It is a classic looking knife and I like the low profile look of black finished blades.
