Q: What is the extra black plastic piece for?

The extra black plastic is garden hose quick plug connector.

Q: How can I get a replacement brass end cap with the holes in it? One is missing.

Need to order the little pits cover on the springer

It does not travel. I assume the Wheels are so that it becomes easy to pull it to a new location. but it works beautifully for me.

Q: Before I return this sprinkler, hoping someone might tell me how to remove the black irrigation tube connector? Have had no luck getting it off.

Please kindly unscrew it with a little strength. If it is too tight, please kindly try to use a pair of pliers. Using the pliers to hold onto the plastic cap while turning the metal ring counter clockwise. After taking off the plastic cap, you can directly connect to another garden hose.
