Buy this, it works!
The media could not be loaded. I don’t usually write reviews, but this time I felt I had to.Like many, I get frustrated with the negativity in reviews, so I’ll keep this straightforward.I built a new house and moved in October 2024. My home is entirely cooled and heated by a Carrier heat pump. Shortly after moving in, I noticed the outdoor unit made a loud humming noise when operating. Living in the country, I found this noise disruptive—it took away from the peace and quiet I value. After some research, I came across this sound-cushioning product. Installation took about 10 minutes, and the results were incredible. It reduced the annoying compressor noise by about 80%. While I can still hear the fan (as expected), the whiny compressor noise is practically gone.I’m completely satisfied with this product and highly recommend it if you’re dealing with a similar issue.

It worth the money
I bought this product and in the back of my head i was doubting it will work, but guess what !! It worked . The AC unit noise noticably reduced (Yes the humming is still but so contained and in different pitch)i can easily say the noise reduction reached 40%.Installation wise wasnt hard but not smooth ! the top of the compressor was little heavier than i thought as the fan and motor are attached to . but its a good thing as well as once i removed it the compressor motor was clear reach.i only wish if this sound batt top cover had more slots (Not a box 4 sides- may be slot in other one or two sides) to acumidate the compressor ferion pipr throu.I had to puch, twist and bend the top sound matt to pass one pipe between two sides and manuver the other pipe. But it Worked out well at the end ... Two things to watch out when do it yourself1- The Fan and its motor are attached to the AC top cover - its heavy, The wires connecting it to the unit are short so you won't have much wire length to flip the cover- just get two chairs or a small table as high as the unit so you can place it gentely on it.2- The AC Top edge after removing the top part is sharp as blades, Cover the whole perimeter with towels before you start installing the sound batt.thank you

Cost effective method to reduce irritating high frequency compressor noise.
The media could not be loaded. A Goodman single stage heat pump I installed recently has been working well, but the sound is really annoying! Much louder than our two stage Goodman. Wondered how the two stage suppressed the sound and found it came with the custom fit sound blanket installed.Looked up online and found this AC compressor sound blanket on Amazon (of course). Ordered Thursday & got it Saturday. Installed in about twenty minutes with a helper to balance fan assembly off to the side. There are four long Velcro straps (left and right in upper and lower positions) the base assembly. You will need to trim to length since the left and right straps mate to the same 12” length of hooks. Just pull tight and cut at mid point to leave room for mating strap. Note: I also applied several lengths of super tough and strong Gorilla Duct tape to ensure a tight fit and as backup to straps. Looked very good but of course I didn’t take a picture.Result: works pretty well! I amno longer distracted by the sound of the unit and while the sound is a bit still louder than our two stage, the level is overall acceptable.Didn’t measure decibel level because who cares, it’s the “oh wow, that’s not so annoying anymore” result I care about. Per one of the other reviewers, I created movie which illustrates the before and after sounds levels.

Not very universal, doesn't look like picture
Not sure how this is universal. You pretty much need to cut it up into a bunch of pieces and then it didn't block noise. Please look at your compressor before you buy. If you have all these wires and extra lines going into it, there's no way to get this to fit well. Even after cutting it into a bunch of pieces it's still hard to fit. Obviously I can't return it now that no I've cut it up (as instructions actually advise) so it felt like a complete waste of money.I first rated it 2 stars and I raised it to 3 because instructions say to wrap it in tape. So half a roll of duct tape later I did manage to get the thing sealed up, and it really did help quiet it down! So it did work.So why just three? Duct tape won't last 10-15 years like a compressor will. In fact reading reviews you see people talk about how duct tape on it only lasts about 90 days or so because you have sun, moisture, and a constant fan... So now I find out I have to take my ac apart and reseal it every 90 days? They don't recommend any better tape either, so maybe I can guess on another fancy tape that lasts longer? No where in the description does it point out that it depends on tape to seal it... It does not include said tape, and does not picture said tape, Nor does it in the manual or description tell you what kind of tape to use, and the tape most other users refer to using does not have a reasonable life.I would not buy again, I am not pleased with the manufacturer, I find the pictures and descriptions scandalously misleading, but it does quiet it down as promised.

Sound investment

Only trimming that was needed was around the lower compressor tube fitting. I Suggest a test fitting before trimming. I also ran one of the lower straps on the upper piece under the compressor to pull it down snug. This insured that the upper piece cleared the fan blades. Sliding the lower section is easier if you insert a thin piece of cardboard between it and the cooling fins. It tends to catch on those fins without the cardboard. Just pull the cardboard out when done. Finally pull the Velcro straps super snug to insure a tight fit. The noise reduction is just enough to make the juice worth the squeeze. Recommend this compressor blanket.
