So much better than a trash bag and duct tape
When I first got my cast on I asked the technician about bathing. He gave me a weird look and told me "just don't get your cast wet, whatever you do." OK, gotcha. But HOW do I do that? He was pretty apathetic, but he finally said, "Just use a trash bag and duct tape." He even told me not to bother buying special bags because they're a waste of money and don't work.I tried the duct tape and garbage bag for two showers and absolutely hated it. The first time I accidentally taped the bag to my leg hair. Yikes. I did better the second time, but I still had to hold the bag with one hand.I was so happy when I found these Curad leg bags here on Amazon. What a difference.I wish there had been some instructions, because it took me a while to figure out how to get this on. It turns out that the semi-circle notch in the top was still sealed from production, but I just had to pull it apart. I didn't realize that my huge foot and leg were supposed to go through that little orifice. This is what creates the tension to hold it on your leg though. It worked PERFECTLY!I still don't trust it 100% to stop all water from seeping into my leg, especially since I can't make a perfect seal with hairy legs. So I use what I call the "Captain Morgan" stance in my shower. I prop my foot up on the edge of the basin and put all my weight on the other leg while I shower. This keeps the water from draining down my leg and possibly seeping through the seal. After the shower I dried off the bag just as if I were drying off my bare leg. Then I hung it upside down to make sure it was 100% dry.I also dropped one of my unused leg bags into my laptop bag and took it to work. It's supposed to rain today, so I'll put this on if it comes down too hard._____________________________UPDATE FOR COLD WEATHER:My leg is still in a cast and I'm still learning and coping with the adjustments that this requires.Last week I spent six days in the snow--not a lot of snow, but it doesn't take much to get your cast wet. My doctor had been very clear about telling me not to get it wet, so I did everything I could to comply.I discovered two things:* My toes got cold pretty quickly, even with a fabric cast cover (Leg Cast Cover - Green Camo (Regular Cast)).* Keeping the cast dry was nearly impossible. After a day and a half I solved both problems. The solution included the fabric cover, two of these plastic covers, and a dish towel.I quickly discovered that just using one of the plastic cast covers that I use in the shower didn't really work to keep the cast dry. There was too much wear and tear to keep it from springing little holes and letting water in. Luckily this fabric cast cover absorbed most of that. But to really keep it dry, I used two of the plastic covers. First I put a good clean (no holes) plastic cover over the cast. Then I stuffed a dish towel into the one that I'd used and partially damaged the day before. Finally I pulled that second one with the dish towel over the first one. The result was a double-bagged leg, or maybe even triple-bagged. I had the camo fabric cover, then one plastic cover, and then a second plastic cover with a dish towel folded up at the bottom. The dish towel kept any significant moisture from getting in and also provided a second layer of insulation from the cold. Problem solved. The slippery plastic cover was pretty deadly in the snow, but I took it slow and relied on a crutch.

Lifesaver!
This thing works great! You get 2 in the box. When I first put this on, I thought this would no way keep water out in the shower, but it works great! The hole at the top also didn't seem like it would be large enough, but it is. It seems to stretch to fit and then retract to form a watertight seal. I have been using this for 3 weeks and it has never let a drop of water in (just make sure your leg is dry before you remove it). It is strong but light, very easy to slide on over a bulky dressing and doesn't pull on the dressing or pull it down. I just hang it up (away from the cat) to air dry until the next day's shower and it's ready to use again. The description on Amazon's page says it's blue but it's not. It is clear plastic. On me, it only covers up to my knee (not above). I did not try to swim in it, so I don't know if it would work for this. But I do not try to keep my leg out of the water at all while showering and it keeps me dry. I've had a dressing from toes to knee for 4 months and this was a lifesaver! And it was WAY cheaper than the bulky, blue Dry Pro Cast Protector that cost me $35 and didn't work as well.

Amazing simple product that works perfectly
This product is hard to believe. You take it out of the box, and you see a medium-weight plastic bag in the rough shape of your cast but bigger. Then you see that the top of the plastic bag has a round hole about 3 inches in diameter. You pull on it and the hole stretches a little, but from appearances, if you pull this thing onto your cast the hole will rip.OK, you pull it on over the cast, and surprise, the whole stretches and it goes on. The hole is still round. Now the hole is over your leg at the top of the cast, and darn it, it's tight against your skin! It appears to be a nice tight fit. Not uncomfortable, but tight. Will it hold water? The final surprise, it holds water. You shower, after a while ignoring the thing over your cast. When you take it off after your shower, your cast is quite dry. It held back the water without any tape!I've just had the third surgery on my foot, and wish I'd had this for the first two. I'll have the cast on for 60 days, so I've bought two boxes (four bags) so that I'll be sure to have enough. I've used it just once so far, so don't know how many uses I'll get out of each one--but I'm sure that the next use will be fine, because it looks just like new.The only caution that I'd offer is to be careful to not drag the opening over the cast, but instead to hold it open so that it doesn't touch the cast as you pull it on. That's not hard to do, and it'll prolong the life of the cast protector. This is a remarkable product. I was skeptical when I ordered, but Amazon's return policy emboldened me. Wow, am I glad I ordered this! If you have a cast on your lower leg or foot, you'll be thankful for this.

Great product , great value…its all you need for shower
I looked at many options, some with a much higher price tag, and I’m so happy I choose this one. I have a below the knee cast and wanted it for shower. There are two in the package and I am 4 weeks in and I am still using the first one. The first time you use it stretching it to put it on is a little tricky and I found it easier to have someone do it for me. After the first time it is much easier but depending on your flexibility it may be easier to have help to put it on. Taking it off was easy. It worked exactly as expected. No water got in! So happy to be able to shower.
