Possible but I don't think you'll get required temps on the second chamber

Q: It doesn't seem to come with a heat deflector, anyone used any DIY alternatives or additions to this setup?

I use a 35cm stainless steel bowl half filled with cold water placed on the middle of the bottom grid at the beginning of the cook - it helps a lot. 40 cm bowl would deflect even better. Try using less briquettes and have 2 small heat sources heaped at the edge of the kettle bbq rather than one big one in the middle.

No we also have close neighbours. Even when first lighting it the smoke is not too much at all. A lot depends on how much wood you use
