Sturdy, heavy and holds a lot!
The shelves arrived on time. The delivery guy was grunting a bit by the time he made it up the stairs to my apartment, so that told me it was heavier than I expected. The box was heavy!! My daughter and I opened the box right by the front door and moved the pieces to where we were going to assemble the shelves. The shelves did not go together in 10 minutes like some were saying because we had one metal bar a tiny bit bent. We also later decided it would have been easier to have put it together outside, on the concrete rather than inside, on the carpet. It does make it more difficult to put it together on carpet. Don't be like us, find a tile floor, the sidewalk outside, anything but the living room carpet. That being said, we got the frame together, moved the frame to where we wanted to shelves to be and placed the particle board shelves in place. I was a bit sad that the shelves were not thicker, but they seem very sturdy, so time will tell if they should have been thicker, or if they are just fine. We loaded it up with small kitchen appliances, stepped back and were very pleased.

Connector Pieces are a Godsend
I LOVE this shelving set!! I originally purchased a different shelving system from another company. It was bigger and has a higher weight rating. The other shelve started out as a fairly simple build until you get to the 2nd adjoining section. They expected you to align the top and bottom part of the next shelf section to the 4 poll's that makes up the 2nd top part. This was both very difficult and not very stable because there was nothing holding these two polls together except the adjoining shelf. I did it alone, but this part clearly took a 2 Man team to get it to work easier. With the TKT System it comes with 8 adjoining pieces that are placed between the Top and Bottom sections that hold them into place. These 8 adjoining pieces are a Godsend that not only make it easier to connect the system, but it also makes the whole shelve safer and much sturdier. The TKT SHELVING SYSTEM is a 5 Star Shelf.

Solid Low Cost Workbench
I bought this shelving unit to assemble a garage workbench in the side by side configuration. They are similar to the muscle rack systems but do not have the riveted assembly system. The system is bent and punched metal that I had my doubts about, but they seem to go together well and are sturdy. The metal is galvanized steel with no paint, so you can paint them any color if you so desired. The shelves are 1/4 inch particle board. I treated mine with a water-based polyurethane since as a workbench, it will get more abuse than a simple shelf. I have the bottom shelf off the ground so I could use the floor as another shelf. If you are building it vertically, I wouldn't suggest it. There are parts to combine the two vertically, but I did not use them since mine was horizontal. It would be nice if they had the hardware to join the units horizontally. I used some zip ties until I buy some nuts and bolts to make the thing a solid one piece. Overall, I'm happy with the design and execution of these shelves.

Went together FAST and EASY
I had opened the box late at night just to see the quality of the parts with no intention of putting it together. Then I decided to just do the first couple steps to see what I was in for, then head off to bed. Before I knew it, the whole thing was assembled. I was expecting a thousand screws, nuts, bolts and washers but there was literally none of that. It did come with a couple screws for people that chose to anchor it to the wall, but other than that the only tool I needed was a rubber mallet, which the instructions suggest. I do highly recommend having a rubber mallet handy because I can't imagine doing this without one.Total build probably took me about 25 minutes, and thats including the time it took me to change my mind about the distance between shelves and re-do some of it. No hassle whatsoever.Material quality seems high, although I have not loaded it up yet. I did move it a few feet and it's very light considering how much weight it is supposed to hold. The shelves themselves are not "wood" but a composite of wood chips and chemical glues. Thats not really a complaint, but just don't expect dining room furniture appeal. As I was assembling it, I stood on the bottom shelf and it held me (185lbs).I was a little uneasy spending so much on a shelf considering all the cheaper options out there, but the ease of assemnbly ALONE was worth the money. If it can even hold half the weight it claims to, buying this was a no-brainer.

I needed space in the basement and they were cheap and seemed good enough. WRONG
Wow..... so I ordered 2 of these shelves. I needed space in the basement and they were cheap and seemed good enough. WRONG.So......for starters, putting them together was 4 hours of my time wasted that I will never get back. I NEVER was able to put them together, because by the time I finally gave up, my hands were bleeding all over the floor, and I had to stop. No matter how coordinated you are, one person cannot put this together. 2 people... it is a fight But in the end no matter what you do, not all the clips will hold. You will end up screaming at everyone who comes near you.....because you must have the patience of a SAINT to spend more than an hour on this. You begin by putting the rubber feet on the bottom. LOL That step took almost an hour because they do not slide on like they should. Oh no. You must wrestle with them for an hour each to get them on. You get one side on, and then the other pops off. I should have known then that that was going to be the theme for the whole process. Moving forward was 1 step forward and 2 steps backwards. For each one bracket you think is attached....2 more pop loose and the whole thing falls over. The clips are not well made, so they do not tighten down like they should. I can see how they should align, but they don't.IN the end.....I finally gave up. The floor was bloody, I was frustrated beyond belief, and I just waster half my day.SPEND MORE MONEY AND GET SOMETHING BETTER QUALITY.
