Camping, hiking, hillwalking, name your outdoor excursion and instead if having to carry, Lug about a backpack full of potable water for drinking or cooking, etc...The LifeStraw has nano filtration technology to filter water from a pond, stream, river, etc and drink immediately. It removes - filters out: dirt, sediment, algae, bacteria, microbes, etc. The water may or may not be crystal clear but it will be potable- safe to drink.It is not reverse osmosis to make salt water fresh... perhaps one day a future version.It will make most fresh water sources potable.This unit being an updated from original version, it has threads in plastic on feeder end to either connect a standard plastic bottle filled with river water when hang from a tree branch or other elevated structures.So choice a thirst quench of water to can filter many litres into another container bag... for larger 10, 20+ litre volumes.Great for self as well as an excellent birthday or crimbo gift.Reusable for several 1000s of litres.

My son is going travelling to the far east where he could be out in the wilds without a drink. I bought this as a going away gift. This is a wonderful idea so he can use river water and know it’s safe by drinking through this. Even in the Philippines they sell you bottled water but use tap water to make ice so even there it’s useful. (tap water contains bacteria and micro plastics) The company seems very conscious about other cultures that have no clean water so they give straws and bigger filtration systems to 3rd world countries. It seems expensive but rather this than gastrointestinal problems.

Very portable and great for emergencies on those camping trips.
