Cat-chy
Our brain takes a quick glimpse of a series of slightly changing images and combines them to create the illusion of movement. In real time, that blurring of individual details makes it hard to see what is really happening right in front of us. Is the cat or horse airborne mid stride or not? With the human eye, it is impossible to say. The stop-motion photography by Eadweard Muybridge captured images within a fraction of a second providing proof that the animal made movements we couldn’t otherwise see. It literally put a stop to the action.Muybridge’s work is the perfect lens through which to understand phenakistoscopes, zoetropes, and flipbooks. Through one, we understand the other. I love the way Fliptomania pays homage to Muybridge’s pioneering stop-action work through a medium that relies on the illusion of movement he debunked.

Cool flipbook
I love these Fliptomania flipbooks and own several of them. They are good quality and can withstand a fair amount of “flipping”. The flipbooks are small, 2x4", although a couple of them are also available in a larger 4x6" size. This one features a cat running, which was originally “created” by Eadweard Muybridge in 1887. (Muybridge was an English photographer who is known for his pioneering work in photographic studies of motion and early work in motion-picture projection.) The cat appears to run through the entire book as you flip through the pages. Note: The pictures are in black and white because the cat was photographed using black and white photography. Great flipbook for any cat lover.

Could have been more for the price.
Printed images are only on one side of each page. Leaving the back of each page blank is a missed opportunity. So, it's overpriced in my opinion.
