Q: Does this figure have the battle scars from the first movie? not the red marks, but the scars.

They are just red marks, not molded or engraved scars. Since there are currently at least 3 different sizes for the Mattel T-Rex toys, and if you want one without scars by chance, order the Legacy T-Rex, which is the plain version and same size as this one. If you want a T-Rex with 'true' scars, you may need to wait as far as I know. Otherwise, the red paint marks are not that badly done.

Q: My grandson will be 9 years old next month. Is this an appropriate gift for that age. He loves Jurassic items.

I bought this for my 3 year old grandson who asked specifically for it. His 6 year old brother was not interested. I think 9 may be too old and may need something more interactive. However, all kids are different.

Q: Where do I order the mini set of dinosaurs that go with this product?

I have this set for the boys and they love it. I have only tried Amazon. Maybe if you do an internet search it might come up. Good luck.
