For the price I paid, I was disappointed. The buttons feel weird, the sound was low, and the speakers sounds cheap. Reminds me of the 900 Mhz phones from VTech in the 90s, which I thought was built better. It sounds and feels more like a radio, that's been transformed into a phone. So I gave it 3 stars. But; I can see it having 5 star capability if I view this device in a different light or prospective. So I wanted phones, like regular phones and bought a Panasonic cordless DECT 6 Plus system after I bought this that I'm thrilled with. Big buttons, super loud speakers, all the bells and whistles with 2 cell phone connects, phone books, etc.I decided to keep the phone till the end of Jan for the extended return period, and give it a chance. If I look at this phone as more of a radio, that I can be in any part of the building and get my phone calls, then that itself will be enough to keep the phone as a specialty phone, that can slip in my pocket when I walk around the building and not miss my calls.So far so good, and I found that the up and down arrows will control the volume levels which go much higher than default, so I can cross that complaint off my list. It works on the other side of the building even behind pallets of product, so check. It's very small and compact, fits in my pockets so check. It feels solid and well built. the base unit is small and compact, doesn't consume much space. I'm going to give this 5 stars now, because I saw it in the wrong light or perspective when I unboxed it. My friend Mike tells me it has the same electronics as the high end Durafon.It's not the kind of phone you buy as your primary phone, it's a specialty phone for long distances and high densities such as warehouse pallets and products and exceeds my expectations.

I have patiently worked with the phone for several weeks. I have a PhD in Electrical Engineering and I am not an idiot.The phone does not work in accordance with the manual I downloaded per your URL. Here are several examples. The phone does not ring when an incoming call is received. Instead, the word SILENT appears on the screen. This is true even though I have carefully gone through the steps outlined in the user manual to set the ring volume to HIGH. I have repeated this five times - same result.The speaker mode does not work even though the screen icon indicates that it should when the spkr button has been pushed. Occasionally, pushing the spkr button will result in a short burst of loud sound for a second or two. This makes me think that it is a hardware issue.We purchased htis admittedly expensive phone because the distance from the base station to the phone is around 200 feet and we wanted to be sure to have adequate signal for quality audio. Ths phone has great range and I only wish that the other features were as good.I cannot take the phone out of service to return it because we must have telephone access daily. I have asked you to send me a replacement and I will return this one as soon as the other arrives. I am willing to give you a credit card if you are worried that I would not return the old one.

With all of the various electrons that are buzzing around in our house these days; microwave oven, wi-fi, electronic weather station, digital portable phones, it becomes hard to find a portable phone that is not bothered by all this interference. This phone is the ticket to clear conversations. Some people say this phone is not to be used with cable phone service. Well, I am using it with my Comcast phone service, and it works great.If you are planning on adding additional handsets, that's ok, the base station will support multiple handsets. Just be aware that once you place a call on a specific handset, all other handsets are not able to pick up the line. If you want to join the conversation you will need to pick up on a hard wired phone or a different type of portable phone. The EnGenius base station will only connect to one handset at a time.Other than this limitation, I am very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend this phone.

It's a well made product with great range and amazing clarity! The price is a bit steep, but it's worth it.
