Works well
Works well, alt the instructions with the product were not great!!! I’d go onto you tube, plenty of videos about how to use it for honey.

Good, but wrong instructions!
As with other reviews, this has the incorrect instructions for this refractometer. It needs to be calibrated with olive oil (not distilled water). Otherwise it’s good.

Tried two cheaper models but no good
After trying two cheaper models I then came to this one and it was the only one that worked or made sense. All I want to do is measure my first years honey. This told me it's 16% without fuss or confusion. So glad I bought this one in the end.Highly recommended

Works well
At first I thought this didn't work as the instructions say to check reading with distilled water and view was completely blue. After a bit of research i found out its issued with wrong instructions. You need to use olive oil, and then you get the clear white and blue sections. If you use distilled water it's all blue and no reading is given. I have tried with honey and got the reading I was hoping for. Good, and probably as good as any more expensive one.

Bad instructions
It is good for the money, and it does work well. But it does annoy me when kit is sent out with totally bonkers instructions. They say calibrate the device with distilled water and adjust the line of demarcation to zero in the viewfinder. But there is no scale with a zero on it in the viewfinder so the instructions are a waste of ink and paper. An Internet search uncovered that extra virgin olive oil is 71.5% brix, and that is a scale I can see. Used that and calibration is actually correct without adjustment. Assuming that Amazon is a big outlet for this optical instrument and others have complained about the same issue, why doesn't the seller get off its backside and remedy the problem?

Testing testing
Bought item for honey testing. It's a good piece of kit. Honey 17% water content. Brilliant to keep an eye on bee activity.
