Just as described, good quality
Just as described. Good quality. Fit my work ID badge perfectly. Came with 5 individually wrapped and then packaged together in a ziplock bag.

Just what I was looking for, or darn close to it.
I have had a couple different badge holders over the years and since there was no way to seal the opening to prevent dust, dirt, etc from getting into the holder they became nasty. Recently my the last one I bought years ago, was just getting too bad to keep using so I decided to find one that sealed the opening at the top. Portrait orientation was important to me as that is the layout of our IDs. Next I needed one that would not block RFID. This was one of a very few options to fit that criteria.ProsSturdy, I don't think this will break under normal conditions and would take a hammer or something else to break it open.Seals off the opening very well and I don't think I have had any issues with water or dirt as of yet.RFID works without an issue.Barcode scanning works without much of an issue. I think there was one time it didn't scan, but a second attempt worked. I don't really think this was the badge holder's fault, but the person doing the scanning, but since I am not sure I though it best to mention.ConsThere are 2 small openings at the bottom, I believe these are there to allow moisture out of the holder, but they could allow dirt into it as well. One time use. It is designed to not be opened so you can replace the ID. I will still try to do so the next time I get a new ID, but after looking at the design I don't think it will be easy.No Lanyard. It would have been nice if they included one lanyard with these.

Super sturdy and works great.
I kept breaking my ID card at work and was getting tired of replacing it. I saw this product and thought it would be the perfect solution and it is. It is very very sturdy. My main issue at work was that the badge holders I had been using were flexible and when I would lean against a part, it would bend and then my badge would stop working. The Specialist ID holder is very solid, doesn't bend/flex and works great. It is permanent, however, so I made sure to get a brand new badge before "locking it" into the holder. Everything came very well packaged and it's super simple to use. Simply drop your badge in, clip the top in and done. My only issue, which is very minor, is that I liked to put other things in my holder with my badge, like image cards with comic book characters on them and such, but they do not fit in this holder. Not a big deal, however. This is a great product and definitely worth the $6 I paid for it.

Solid card holder, mostly as described
I had another card holder from the Badge Brothers that I liked (the "rigid fuel card holder with key ring by specialist ID") but wanted to get a second card holder for my guest/visitor metro card. I opted for a more permanent one this time, since I didn't see any reason this card would need to come out of its case. This one differs from that other holder in a few respects:- It isn't quite as clear plastic, as other reviewers have noted. It's not really "frosted," but it's not crystal clear like the other one was. Maybe just a little hazy, somewhat like an anti-glare screen protector. I can still read the text on the card inside perfectly fine (see photo comparison).- The top has angled pieces that lock into slots on both sides, creating a "permanent" lock. I haven't tried to remove it yet, but it looks like you could theoretically pop it open with some paperclips or small screwdrivers -- so permanent in the sense that it'd be incredibly difficult for this to just pop off on its own, but not permanent in the sense that you absolutely have to break something to get it open. Although the top of mine didn't really "click" into place like I was expecting it to and the top doesn't line up perfectly (see photo), I pulled on it and it doesn't seem like it's going to come off any time soon.- It's a bit thicker than the other card holder. Not twice as thick, but maybe another 2mm thicker.- The metro card fits EXACTLY in it, height-wise. Make sure your card length is NO MORE than 3 3/8" or ~85.7mm, or the top will not snap in. There's a little more wiggle room width-wise, but not much. The other card holder has more wiggle room.- It doesn't come with a key ring on top. I know: it's not pictured with one and the description doesn't mention one, but I was expecting it to be similar to the other card holder I bought except fully encapsulated. My fault for not paying attention, but wanted to note this just so others are forewarned. One more thing: mine did not have that middle plastic tab shown in the picture--it has 4 tabs connecting the top to the case, not 5. I don't think it matters, but I just wanted to point that out.Edit Sept 2016: As some other reviewer noted, the area by the "tabs" cracked, so to keep pieces from falling off, I just put a piece of scotch tape around the rim of the holder over all the tabs, which worked fine to keep it all together. What bothered me more was that the top part, that a lanyard or keychain attaches to, also eventually broke off. (I kept it in a purse 95% of the time, taking it out only to swipe it on the bus or metro, so it's not like it was going through some heavy duty abuse.) Even if I didn't want to keep it on a keychain, it was still a jagged top to the card that got annoying. I eventually broken open the casing and I'll probably replace it with a new one, but just a warning that this badge holder probably won't last more than a year before starting to fall apart.

Best purchase
I’m so happy to have purchased this item!!! I’ve lost my badge 3 times due to flimsy unsecured badge holders. This was the best decision I’ve ever made. It will not slide out and fit well with my lanyard. I’m finally able to hold on to my work ID without fear of losing it again. On another note, my bade is now safe from rain, snow, and spills. The thickness of this item protects my badge from bending and from scratches. The permanent lock is exactly that. I should’ve ordered this 3 months ago.

Broke half way through the first day of use.
To be fair I should preface this review with a disclaimer. I work for a beer distributor and my job is certainly not a desk job. Lots of moving heavy objects, tractor-trailers, slamming doors, and so on.I had high hopes.. It's a simple product and seemed sturdy. In the end, the top piece that connects to your lanyard snapped right off within a few hours of me going to work. I think if you are staying in the office behind a computer this product might be ok but if you are out and about doing physical work it's probably going to break.

What a great holder!
This holder is just what I needed for my service dog ID. I must have gone through 10 of the zip lock plastic holders before buying this one. I love it, and it is next to impossible to break. Very sturdy and will likely last for many years to come.
