A horror story about ants.....
I always put out ant baits before our annual monsoon season so I don't have to deal with ants. I used to just use the black, cheap, baits. Until last year, when we got a different kind of ant that we had not ever had before. The black baits did not work and I read that these baits kill more than one kind of ants. They worked great last year, so I bought them again this year at Walmart. They were very hard to find in my area. I put out three of them like I always do. I put them by the back door, which is where they seem to enter our home. They worked great! No ants to be seen really. We had a lot of rain here in the past few months too. I just usually see about five or six ants a year. I do spray for spiders year round because we have a lot of trees too. This also kills ants and other insects. We had cleaned the house from top to bottom on Tuesday. Then on Thursday, we heard a beeping from our office. We had never heard it before and we investigated. It was the back up battery that we had bought to keep the internet and phone working in a power outage. We pulled it out from under the desk and ants went everywhere! A hundred or more of them! The had made their hotel in a hundred dollar piece of equipment! We unplugged it and the power strip that they had also made their resort and got it out of the house as fast as we could. We saturated the floor with bug spray and killed any ants that tried to escape! They were everywhere and it was awful! After hours of killing ants and removing any thing they infested - we bought more of these baits to put everywhere! We ordered these baits and the ultra sonic pest control that Amazon offers. We also had to re buy the power strip and back up power supply too. In all, the ants ruined $200 dollars of equipment and traumatized us forever! I realize baits and ultra sonic is probably over kill but I don't care. The baits were maybe over priced but they worked in the areas we had them in this year. And I was not going to experience this again. The baits came on time and were packaged well. Except for the fact that the packaged contained the Terro liquid ant baits instead. I was not happy. I got on Amazon to return these and to my surprise the seller had realized his mistake and had sent a nice email saying to keep those Terro baits and he was sending these baits out that day! That is great customer service! Again they came on time and were packaged well and were the right product. We saturated our house with these and have not seen an ant since. I can not believe how fast ants cane move in and invite all of their friends! I can not believe how they ruined so much equipment and how that could have cause a fire. I will have these on hand in bulk for every spring. This is a must have in my house form now on.

WORKS amazingly well! THANK YOU for all the reviews!!!
We are from the east where we found Terro all we needed. Our family moved to Salt Lake, UT for an industrial job, and we soon followed. Ants under the concrete patio were attacking our small dogs. I researched puppy safe ant baits on Amazon and ordered these. we have a large area so I ordered about 20 of these that I weighted down underneath rocks. There were at least 5-7 different types. After a week, we only saw a few lone scouts. The puppies worked together to move some of the rocks, but they showed no ill effects from having the metal traps in their mouths for about 5 minutes. No review I read offered an opinion about the longevity of the bait traps. It has been since April. Thanks to all who reviewed these!

The best bait for ants that don't like sweets
My wife and I have ant problems. Lots of ant problems. we live next to a game preserve with forest, fields, and marsh, and have a cornfield on the other side. We get carpenter ants, small black ants, itty bitty pavement ants, tiny red ants that actually eat through plasitc bags to ruin food, and more. Every year we end up with multiple new ant mounds trying to establish themselves in the yard and along the foundation of our house. It's just thawing outside right now and we already have a fresh batch of pavement ants starting to forage in the kitchen.I've used a lot of different baits and sprays and granules to control the problem. All of them end up being situational, especially since we have pets to worry about.RIght now I have a standard 3 stage progression that seems to work very well:1. Whenever possible, I try to use borax and sugar syrup as the first line of defense, as it's more or less non-toxic to us and the dogs and will eventually kill the nest if they feed enough to the queen. I personally use the Terro brand because I like the big blocky dispensers that hold a LOT of syrup.2. If borax doesn't do the job, I'll add some fipronil baits, since they have a fairly low toxicity and they at least put a dent in the population even though, in my experience, they don't usually kill the nest. Any brand works about the same here. Raid, Combat, Hot Shot, Terro, etc. They're all pretty similar.3. When I have a problem with ants that don't like sweets and aren't showing much interest in the fipronil baits, that's when I carefully plant some of these PIC brand baits with Avermectin B in safe locations and start searching for the mounds so I can put Avermectin granules on it. Avermectin B seems to be really effective for species that don't like sweets, and although you need to be careful with it because I think it has a higher toxicity to mammals than borax or fipronil, it's still reasonably safe and will usually wipe out a nest within a couple weeks.

Very impressed with product!
We always have ant invasions, despite outside professional pest control. Have placed the pod near a door where the ants seem to make it into the house and it works within minutes. The ants migrate straight to the blue pod and shortly thereafter, they are dead! We highly recommend! Unless you have an old nail or fingernail file available, the notches to punch inwards are challenging without some type of 'tool' to assist. Otherwise, perfect product!

Used for ghost ants, this did not help at all.
It does not work on all ants. I can not say for sure if it works for normal ants it did nothing for the ghost ants we had all summer. I gave 3 stars because I can not say it will not work for other ants and wanted to give them Benefit of the doubt. But for ghost ants I would give them 0 stars
