Awesome Portable Safe.
The Vaultek Life Pod 20 is simply amazing and I believe it to be the best portable safe for traveling that money could buy at this current time. I originally purchased this for a camping trip to keep it beside me at night just in case an animal or person put my family or I in harms way. I honestly thought I would only use the safe for traveling purposes, but I absolutely love this thing and have been keeping it right beside me on my nightstand. It is made up of hard plastic, but it honestly feels extremely sturdy and durable. As for the button inputs and biometrics, the inputs work great. The biometrics work well too, I'd recommend using the 1st and 2nd user profile for one finger so that it can read your finger print better at different angles. My only gripe with this safe is the micro USB charging port, for the love of God it is 2025...why would you make a product that uses micro USB in the age of Type C charging. It's a bit of a goofy move, but other than that this safe is seriously awesome and I highly recommend it.

Excellent safe - well made and great for travel
This is a lightweight yet confidence-inspiring piece of kit that is great for keeping personal things secure and personal; whether EDC items like watches, knives, USB drives or firearms, or more trip-specific things like travel documents (passports, small photo equipment, etc.). The lock / unlock process is smooth and reliable, and the included security cable helps keep it where it is supposed to be. Could a motivated thief cut the cable and take it? Sure. But is it likely to be secure from kids or random maintenance personnel, etc. that might be a little too curious? You bet. It also has the exact dimensions to fit in a rear floor bin on a late model RAM truck - which is an amazing stroke of luck for a long road trip. Very highly recommended.

Great for my needs
This is my third vaultek product, the others being the first generation LifePod and the "Pew Pew Life" LifePod 2.0. The LifePod 20 is comparable in size and weight to the 2.0. Both can house a full size pistol, up to 8 or 9 inches if I remember), and magazine(s) when set up correctly (tested with a 320 compact and 21 round magazine). It houses my Smith & Wesson Shield+, with extras, comfortably. The tray that comes with the LifePod doesn't fit with the firearm and extras. Even with everything loaded inside, the vaultek is still light. The light turns on for 30 seconds when the case is opened, giving decent illumination. There is also a miscellaneous tray installed in the lid. It holds cards and various other items. To open the LifePod, either use the fingerprint scanner (instant access), or tap the lock button and input your access code, then undo the clasps. When you're finished, press and hold the lock button until you hear it lock. The LifePod can also be used without a battery, but it won't lock. The programming for the keypad and fingerprint scanner is very easy. The biometric lock is a nice feature. This is my first time using a vaultek with fingerprint lock. I was leery at first, but down the road I realized it's better should I somehow forget the code or need access in an emergency. Programming the fingerprint scanner is simple; can't do it wrong if you follow the instructions and it takes only a five minutes. Programming the code only takes a 2 minutes at most. If the battery dies, you can still access the inside by using the provided keys. The key does not lock the LifePod though.Since I just bought the LifePod 20, I can't make a judgement call about battery life just yet. What I can tell you is my LifePod 2.0 battery finally ran out (I bought it back in 2022) while my LifePod is still running on the same battery since 2021. The keypad powers down after a few seconds and, as mentioned earlier, the light cuts off after 30 seconds. If you're not constantly inside the case, the battery lasts a long time.Overall, with this being my third product from Vaultek, I think it's worth the price tag. Battery life is good (based on experience withother products), it houses my edc comfortably, and the biometric lock grants quick access.

Easy to access and safe from little fingers
I bought the non biometric Lifepod a couple weeks ago for my SUV and wanted one for my bedside and chose the biometric model. These are secure and easy to set up. Most importantly though is that the firearms are away from curious adults and children yet quickly accessible. My Springfield Hellcat fits nicely in the top tray with some pluck foam. The safety on my S&W M&P Shield 2.0 won’t allow the gun to sit in the top tray and when placed in the bottom won’t allow the tray to be used because, again, the safety. A small consideration that Vaultec overlooked. However without the tray it works great and my gun is secure. Great product! Get quality 9V batteries; they aren’t included.

Great Safe for Specific Applications But Not For A Bedside Safe
VAULTEK Lifepod 2.0 Secure Gun Safe ReviewIn many ways this is a very great gun safe for specific applications. This is not a bedside or nightstand type gun safe. It is built for travel. Waterproof, airtight, lightweight, great for taking it in your car or boat and it’s TSA compliant for air travel.I bought it thinking I could use it as a bedside safe. A couple of things make it unusable for this kind of application. Primarily there are two clips, one on either side, which pull the case closed tightly – making it airtight and waterproof. If you’re using this for a bedside safe, getting the clips unlocked could be difficult and clumsy. This will add time and complexity to getting to your gun quickly. The clips do what they’re supposed to do, but just be aware. The clips are also pretty loud when you spring them open. If you’re looking for stealth operations to unlock it in the middle of the night, this safe isn’t for you.Great as a travel safe and taking your stuff with you in a very secure case, but not for easy use at your bedside in the middle of the night. It just didn't work for me.
