That’s correct. K&M does make a version specifically for acoustics, though. I use one for an acoustic bass and it fits perfectly.

Q: Can you use this stand for a mandolin?

Not quite. The cradle is a bit to large and the braces too far apart. I actually want to order one directly from K&M for my Gibson EM200.

Q: Will this work with ovation round back acoustic guitars?

I don't think so or at least I don't think it would hold a round back securely. I believe tightening the braces on the curve would cause the guitar to slide up. I once saw a walkup stand made specifically for an Ovation and recall that the back braces were taller and followed the contour of the back of the guitar.

Q: Can you use this seated as well as standing up?

Yes you can. I‘ve used it both ways. You just need a seat that can get right next to the stand, and isn’t too short.
