I think it would say of BPA-free if that were the case. Instead it indicates it is food grade plastic which means it "could" have BPA with low amounts and low risk of leaching into food/drinks. That being said, I use the cap to replace cracked caps with original bottles. My liquids rarely come in contact with the cap as I find it easier to pour by removing the lid and I keep liquids below the neck of the bottle so they don't come in contact. I usually make tea in the glass pitcher for iced tea.

I have purchased these for my Anchor Hocking glass pitcher. They are a harder plastic and work, but a little difficult to get on and off. The original replacement lids are too expensive.
