it's a holder. light plastic, but i suppose it is to prevent corrosion. sometimes the shower spins around in the holder. I have the Hansgrohe rain dance select air 3 jet. looks good together.

I wouldn't recommend their products
For a company that is suppose to be high end for bathroom fixtures Hansgrohe skimps on quality. This is plastic and not made all that well. I wouldn't recommend their products. Other brand names sell for less and are made the same. Definetly paying for a name & thats it!

Worked for me as replacement for Porter E
HansGrohe is the worst! If you purchased the Porter E and had it break multiple times...you are like me. The design is absolute junk and the mounting holes are spaced in three different positions between the Porter E, S and Classic. Bad design and its expensive, those looking at replacement for the porter E should use the porter S- but you have to redrill holes and patch your tile. Grohe should discontinue the porter E and give away the S and Classic as replacement. The classic mount holes were spaced too close togther.
