They are hard plastic very awesome when I purchased I was thinking it would be like soft plastic but they are very nice I do recommend.

Great organizer
Great organizer for kids, easy to keep all in one place or transfer to different working station. If using small crayons the red dividers has to be fully packed otherwise pensils will fall and hard to pick up.
