3 9/32" - approx, Mine in on the wall behind TV so could be alittle error. Checking online indicates that the standard is: 3.281"

What is the size of the plate?

Same size a regular house plate...rectangler not square

Is there a "female" coax on the backside to plut a coax into?

Negative. Both rear and front coax connectors on the plate are male.
