Simply perfect
I had some freshness concern referenced in other reviews but it turned out to be unfounded in my case - fresh chocolate, marzipan, etc., all candies in their places. Quick delivery. Simply perfect.

You can fix the empty doors.
Niederegger is the BEST, but these Advent calendars come with some empty doors - really disappointing for a kid (of any age). But you will still have 41 treats; other doors have 2-3 pieces behind them. You can easily open the box, slide out the tray, and rearrange the treats as you like. Maybe save the best for Christmas Eve?

excellent marzipan
The marzipan tokens you get each day are delicious.

Marzipan variety
9 days into the advent calendar but love it so far and so good.

It was good
Overall it was a good gift with a nice variety of quality marzipan, but some pieces were deformed and a couple were rock-hard and inedible.

Great quality, including the candy
Niederegger's are the Cadillac of advent calendars, and actually contain good quality chocolate and not waxy chocolate flavored crap like many others. They are worth every penny. (But you'd better like marzipan!)

What happened?
Quality of the box: The marzipan had shifted. Some doors had too many, and some had none at all. While this might seem like a shipping issue, I paid almost $65 for the box. Maybe it could have been designed to minimize shifting.Quality of the product: The marzipan itself was stale and the chocolate was severely bloomed. This didn't just affect the appearance, but the texture and flavor too. The chocolate was chalky and crumbly.Possible change to the recipe: It was overly sweet. I've ordered this before, and I've eaten at Cafe Niederegger in Lübeck. I don't remember it being this sweet.

It misses the purpose of an Advent Calendar. FOr that : Too expensive
An Advents calendar should be fun for the kids and give some excitement on the long wait to christmas by offering a little surprise and treat every day.Does this article fulfill these requirements and is it worth the higher price than the chocolate itself? Short answer. Sadly no.But first the positive points: The Calendar came very fast next day after ordering. The Calendar looks nice and very festive. Behind every door is little picture with a Christmas motive. The Marzipan is from good quality. Here are the downers: the package is is very badly designed and does not fulfill the function. Chocolate are not hold in place and leaves halve the doors empty. - Very disappointing for the kids. The Calendar came does not fulfill the basic function to have a countdown in December to the 24 th : Christmas Eve. - NOT 31 days without any reason! At that time you will have missed christmas!A minor point : The chocolate do not come in a big variation. For this points it is better to buy the chocolate in a regular pack for a much lower price and make an Advents Calendar yourself. Sorry, Product fell a little bit short.
