Can the dial be turned facing the outlet. I already have one I cannot turn it and I really don't want apply heat ?

The dial is not designed to be turned facing the outlet. The gauge can be mounted in any position including horizontally and face up/face down but the dial cannot be turned. Modifying the product in this way would void the warranty.
