Excellent 27mm Diameter Brass Qianlong Replica Cash Coins
The Chinese made cash coins with square holes at the center to buy things for about 2000 years under the rule of many, many emperors. The circle of the coin represented heaven and the square hole at the center represented earth. The Chinese characters on the front face of each coin identified the emperor who was ruling when the coin was made and typically included two characters saying "Tong Bao" to designate the coin as circulating currency or treasure, always backed by silver. The back of the coin often designated with Manchu characters the government mint that made the coin. The 50-coins provided in this Amazon product are designated "Qianlong" cash coins which were made during the reign of Gao Zong who ruled from 1736 to 1795 during the Qing (Ch'ing) dynasty, stepped down in favor of his son for political reasons and controlled China after his abdication until he died in his 80's. He had many wives and currently China has a popular TV show about the machinations of his many wives to gain power during his reign. This emperor was noted for his military acumen and love of strange art.Original older Chinese coins were made of bronze (an alloy of copper and tin). These Amazon coins are made of brass, typically an alloy of copper and zinc. Brass was also used to make coins during the Qing dynasty in order to reduce the cost of making the coins. Original Chinese coins often range from about 24 to 27 mm in diameter. These Amazon coins are 27 mm and are quite large (slightly over an inch in diameter), but not so large as to make them unrealistic in appearance. The symbols of the front of each coin translate as: Qian Long Circulating Currency. The back of the coin translates as: Boo (the curlicue on the left) which is the Manchu character for treasure and the character Su on the right which identifies Suzhou (pronounced Soochow) as the name of the mint that made the coin and Jiangsu as the province in which this mint was located. Typically, many coins were made by the Board of Public Works (or Revenue) which were located in Beijing, the capital of China. These coins are excellent replicas which recall the final emperor-controlled Qing (Ch'ing) dynasty of China before it became a republic in 1912 and stopped making bronze-molded coins with the center square hole.

Perfect. Not cheaply made. This is a steal.
The coins are beautifully made. Not cheap in feeling, weight, or style. (They’re thin, but have a solid weight) Getting 50 for such a price feels like a steal. They were what I wanted but package was broken and coins were everywhere in box plus missing
A couple of coins were missing in the batch because the packaging had opened and they had fallen out. This meant a couple slipped through the gaps in the box used for delivery. Otherwise they fit my purposes and were what I was looking for.

Fun to secretly leave as gifts.
They're a bit bigger than a quarter and seem to be made of brass. I can't bend them with my fingers so they seem higher quality. I give them away to friends and family for special occasions.

Short
These are very nice coins they are a good size and nice weight. The reason for four stars is their were only fourty seven in the bag. I feel it bad luck to be cheated on fungshui coins. No way to contact dealer. If you get fifty of them you will be very happy with them they are good quality.
