This is the best bit you can buy for CNC sign making hands ...
This is the best bit you can buy for CNC sign making hands down. I started with inexpensive bits and went through A LOT of them. I thought I was saving money but really spent so much more than I realized. I finally found Amana Tool and decided to try the carbide tipped V-Groove bit. Those were so much better than the cheep stuff I started with but would wear out quickly (for me since I run a wood sign business). Now with this, not only do I get a sharper and cleaner cut, it lasts way longer and I can replace the carbide inserts at a third the price of one of there other bits. Insert knives are made from solid carbide and much harder since it's not a brazened bit.If I could take 1/2 star away I would only because replacing the insert is not explained anywhere on the packaging nor on Amana Tool's website. I had to email and call and got a couple different answers before I got the right information from Frank over there. The trick is to start the screw, push the blade in towards the tool and up away from the tool as far as it will go, then tighten the screw. This gave me perfect results. The issue of getting it wrong was that it destroyed an insert knife by breaking off the tip when testing at the wrong placement. You have to get this right if you want it to cut the way it does fresh from the factory. One last tip for you. When you buy replacement knives. spend a bit more and buy the ones designed for MDF. I talked to one of Amana's technical guys and he explained that the carbide is a higher quality and will hold its edge longer. Sure, you might not need anything more than the general purpose (that's what comes on it), but it's nice to have the option and have something just a bit better.

Replacement carbide is excellent.
Very smooth cut on a CNC with little burring on White Oak. Runs with a bit of vibration due to the single flute cutter but otherwise very clean cut. Would recommend this to anyone if you have a CNC. Free hand cutting may be more challenging if not in a jig or track to cut work. Ran 3500 feet of groove in white oak and it is still very sharp with no burning or fraying. Probably wont need to change the carbide for another 5000 feet but did buy the extra carbide replacement cutter just to have.

Easy to install, works great
The insert was much easier to install than other reviews led me to believe. They also stay sharper longer than one would expect. The point does not seem to break as easily as a standard 60 degree v bit.

The product is awesome, service not so much
I can only say by an Amana 90 degree V-Bit that I've been running for about a year that it's been a go-to bit so finally decided to try this 45 degree bit and have only ran it twice and both times the carbide insert chipped out so called the seller when the first insert failed and I do have to say in all honesty the service and shipping time was great, not so much the second time. The insert failed just as the first one did so called the seller again and not so great this time, I do believe it may have been the biggest run around that I've ever gotten. I believe that I spoke with the same gentleman and instead of thinking that it if two inserts fail in exactly the same way it very well could be part of a bad run of parts, certainly things like this happens so instead of taking that road all blame for a repeated issue it was 100% pilot error, here's the insulting part of his reply.....You must be doing something wrong...I used material that the bit wasn't made for...I was not running it at proper speed or feed rate... I was using it in a machine that the bit should not be used in.....it went on and on until I hung up but I now wish that I hadn't because I did want to ask why Amana does not state that there bits can only be used on certain material, I thought Soft Maple would have been fine? The bit can only be used at one speed and feed rate, I thought that running the bit at 18000 rpm-.150 depth and feed rate of 75ipm was pretty conservative.... guess I have plenty to learn. This review is strictly about the seller because I have found that Amana bits are outstanding and brag them up all day long so if you're looking for a high quality cutter you're looking at the perfect manufacturer.

Great tool but replacement blades are expensive
The media could not be loaded. The tool works really well and the replaceable blades are a definite plus .. that said the tip of the blade chipped off while doing a design in some mahogany. The other problem is that the replacement blades are currently $25.00 which is more than the cost of a whole new cheaper Chinese alternative .. so as a cost saving measure that just doesn’t make sense .. that said I still like the tool

Tip arrived broken
I expected so much more from this brand. After peeling back the protective coating I found the tip was broken. I'd expect this from a $10 dollar bit, not this $80 bit. How frustrating.

Need to take shallow passes on CNC but good tool
Photo is of my first box with this bit. I ran it with 1/8" DOC @ 60IPM with a Makita 701 router. The first couple passes were smooth but the deeper cuts got chattery. I backed off and re-ran with 1/16" per pass @ 80IPM and that was smooth all the way through. Sides folded up into neat miter joints. Just needs to be glued and clamped.
