Q: How do I tell what setting I’ve twisted the top part to?

There is verbage imprinted in the too of the unit where the bottom of the bean hopper attaches to. Set it and you are ready to go. I've had mine for years and I love it. Noisy when grinding the beans, however it works very well. I hope that helps you.

Q: Can this grinder produce fine grind for espresso? Is it fine enough?

Bought this grinder for French Press blend for myself and the fine setting for a friend that occasionally that visited and preferred Turkish coffee that requires a very fine grind. Great machine for both!

Unfortunately, It was made in China. However, I've had it more than a year and it has been a very good unit. It is heavily used and I've had no trouble with it.

Q: Can you remove the lower burr for cleaning?

No. The lower burr does not come off.
