BEST ICE TRAYS EVER!!
I used ice trays like this when I was a kid and have been looking for them. These are much heavier duty than the aluminum ones we had in my childhood. The lever is easy to operate, and the metal conducts cold quickly so it makes ice fast. For those who have not used this type of ice tray: These make a combination of rectangular and cracked ice when you release the ice from the tray. This combination is going to give you the coldest beverage quickly. You can even use these trays to freeze flavored water, coffee or tea to use in your iced beverages so that they are not watered down by melting plain ice cubes. The tray being made of high quality metal will not rust or stain, and are easy to clean to release any flavors or odors.A couple of tricks from the OG: The trays get VERY cold. Do not handle with damp hands. If you are sensitive to cold wear gloves. Yes the trays get that cold! Run cold tap water over the bottom of the tray for a few seconds when you want to release the ice cubes. This will also release the lever mechanism from the tray. Do not over fill. You can fill about 2/3 of the way to the top. Just a little les. Water expands when frozen. This type of ice does not need to be a big thick cube to chill your drink properly. It may seem weird for anybody to be this excited over ice cube trays, but seriously, these are the best. No more cracked plastic ones that won't release the ice. Ice cubes that look pretty and uniform but do not melt at a proper rate to chill beverages correctly. Iced tea, coffee, or good alcohol can be ruined by inferior ice cubes. Not a problem with these trays. And I'll never have to replace cracked plastic trays again. These are FOREVER Ice Cube Trays. Take care of them and they will never need to be replaced. And YES the ice from these trays does a better job than the ice from the ice maker in your frig.

Sturdy, works well
I remember ice trays like this in my grandmother's kitchen when I was a kid. This one seems to be sturdy and works well. The instructions say to only fill the try 1/2 to 3/4 full. The ice is hard enough to crack at that depth. If you have someone in your house who will over fill, that could be a problem--or maybe you are stronger. The mechanism seems tough enough to handle more, but might not last if misused? The liquid sloshes easily in the bottom tray until the separator is inserted, then can easily be carried to the freezer. We have only had ours for a few weeks, but we are adjusting to a new way of making ice and really happy. When some old plastic ice trays were wearing out I decided to replace them with this stainless steel ice try in hopes or reducing harmful exposures. There is increasing evidence that many soft plastics contain unhealthy chemicals and that we end up absorbing micro particals of plastic. I have not read a study, but I suspect that freezing ice in a plastic tray and popping it out is likely tobreleases micro plastic that ends up in beverages. To be sure I was not doing that I wanted to switch to steel.

Ice tray works great
Our ice maker broke again so I decided to replace it with these in order to reduce our exposure to plastic plus I can use filtered water for my ice now. I've only used them a couple of times but so far they work just fine. I took someone else's advice from the reviews and let them sit on the counter for a couple of minutes before releasing the cubes. A couple of cubes tend to stick in the center of the grid but they are easily freed with a butter knife or other utensil or else it could be left on the counter for another couple of minutes. They do stack if you're very careful and propping against the side wall helps. You can also use a very inexpensive wire shelf.

Great idea
I love the vintage idea but our ice maker doesn't work. We have limited space in our freezer. these are NOT stack able. That is why i returned, Otherwise it is a sturdy product

No more plastic ice trays...!
Not sure why people have negative replies for this...it works great. Fill it 80% full, put in the devider and put down the lever....when it freezes run water over it, then pull the lever, and you have ice cubes.I love this because I'm trying to get plastic out of my body, and this is the perfect solution for my ice making. The plastic ones kept cracking, which means most likely the worn plastic was getting microplastics in my ice. And, I've had to replace the plastic trays multiple times....I feel like it even tastes better.

Ice queen
Best investment ever. Don’t know why they ever did away with these so much better than the plastic ones or the silicone ones.
