This corkscrew has the screw centered along a perpendicular axis. The result is that the cork is entered perpendicularly into the top surface of the cork. This makes the entry of the screw into the cork clean and straight with no destruction of the cork.Other corkscrews have screws which are off-centered and are formed like a curlicue with the point stopping at angle to the cork surface. So much better than the el-cheapo corkscrew which cuts into my hands when wresting with a real cork.
