I was a little apprehensive about getting this as I have been disappointed by many travel salad bowls in the past. This one? It's perfect. It is a bit hefty due to being glass but it is a testament to its durability. The plastic lid and inserts are not poor quality and feel sturdy. All parts wash very well in a dishwasher. The seal is great and nothing has leaked from the container even after several washes. A common problem in other salad bowls is that the seal or plastic parts degrade with multiple washes. This product does not suffer from this fate -- at least not after several months of use!In terms of size, it is perfect for a medium to large salad. If you want to premix your salad, the plastic insert is not necessary for the bowl to safely close. While I do not think putting very wet inclusions in the top is a good idea, moderately wet inclusions like olives travel fine without causing a mess inside. The only downside is the fork does get wet pretty easily as it is attached inside. However, that is a non-issue for me since I prefer bringing a separate container for my silverware anyway.

We purchased both this version and the plastic version. Go with the glass! This does exactly what it is supposed to and looks very nice if that matters to you. Here are the two main differences between the versions. First, the fork....with the glass version it clips under the lid so there is no extra piece to hold it in. With the plastic version there is a clear part that covers where it sits. That just makes another thing to wash and it doesn't stay in place well. Second, the clips on the plastic version are less sturdy than the glass version. The plastic is more brittle and therefore more prone to break. We had three and are down to one. This all took place in less than two years. Yes, the glass is heavier, but the quality is overall much better. With almost daily use, I'd definitely go with the glass.

I love this! A great way to eat healthy on the go. Great for a salad at work on busy days. You can also use to portion other meals and snacks. Hot meal in the glass bowl and portion snacks thru the day with the tray. The glass bowl is sustainable and great for hot or colds meals. I'm looking forward to using this all the time!

Loved this when I got it. Use it 5-6 times per month. Today, about a year later and the tabs that hold the lid on have snapped off. I really tried to be gentle when putting the lid on and never put the lid in the dishwasher, but when snapping to glass, if you’re off alignment at all the glass will win and your lid becomes useless. Now I have to rubber band the lid on.UPDATE: After reading my review the manufacturer reached out to me and replaced the product under warranty. I was very impressed by the customer service and this new lid is actually much easier to attach! Not sure if it was the lid or the glass base, but I love my Bento box again. Thank you!!

I absolutely loved this item when I first got it, but after a run through the dishwasher, the lid to the little plastic container included to hold maybe dressing or something, stopped fitting well and popped off like it was too small. Forcing it on eventually got it to fit again but then one of the tabs on the top cover snapped off. I still used it a few times but it's not air tight and leaves a significant gap so everything gets stale and soggy. The glass is thick though and held lots of toppings for my salads with everything staying separate and fresh till the tab broke. I also chipped the glass bowl, so maybe I'm super rough on things but I still recommend it, so to avoid these issues either hand wash or be more careful than me and don't manhandle it.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Very nice salad bowl. Holds a lot, big enough to mixup your salad. Love being able to separate my salad contents until I’m ready to mix it all together. The only thing to be aware of is that the bowl is heavy.

I wanted something that was not plastic that can hold everything for my chicken salad. When I saw this I immediately ordered because the container for the dressing was deep enough that can hold a good amount and the chicken can go on top and not be hot enough where it makes the lettuce soggy. I am able to heat the chicken separately, keep the dressing separate and when it is time to eat, combine everything in one. Not to mention it has it own fork and the pattern is just all to cute. I really feel like this is my go to meal prep container and I enjoy taking it with me to work. It works perfectly!

I loved this container and used it multiple times a week. After having it for about 4 months, one of the tabs broke off and now I can’t close it. It really was great for the time that I had it, so I am disappointed that it broke.
