Cool design

Does exactly what you want it to, can open switches and has a string attached to put it on a keychain or similar. I absolutely love the little magnets that hold it together, too. Worth the few bucks to get one of these if you plan on building a keyboard.

Works great for CherryMX style switches. Otemu require more significantly more force to open, but it does work. Size is only as big as it needs to be stable, doesn't take up much space in the drawer.

Writing this review for anyone that wants to lube AKKO switches. I'm not sure how different all their switches are but from what I can tell they are all the same. I used Creamy Yellow pros AKKO switches and this worked perfectly! Was a bit weary of this separator due to other reviews but I had a great time. It didn't feel like it was hard to open the switches, it just took a moment to get used to. Please review what AKKO switches you're getting before buying this but I think this was a win in my book and I'll be using it for future projects!

My son got some Akko V3 Crystal switches that are next to impossible to open to lube them. My husband had bought him a keyboard tray with embedded openers that didn't work well. I then got him this one, and he was able to open them with relative ease - I think this was because he could hold this at a proper angle in his hand, or maybe just the pressure points are better placed / built out. Either way, he's happy he can now finish lubing these switches. Really like the magnetic closure so it's not likely to get dusty for future use.

This switch opener is beautifully made, works well (although I have only tested it on Cherry-style switches not Kailh-style switches). The magnets keep both halves together (as does the lanyard). A great bit of kit to keep in your mechanical keyboard tool arsenal.

I used this to open Gateron milky yellow pro mechanical switches to film them. The process was very simple (see the video right here on Amazon), and I realized I could just let the base of the switch sit there on the opener, lift the top off carefully so as not to disturb the spring, place the film, and then return the top of the switch to its base without messing with the insides. My switches came pre-lubed, so I didn't want to remove the lube by handling them. Can't imagine opening all those switches without one of these gadgets. The opener is made of metal, closes magnetically, and it's pretty, too, kind of a shimmery purple. I like that you can pick your color. Good quality. Now if only I could remember where I put it...
