Truth be told - I was cynicalHowever, I'm pleasantly surprised. The strips work very well, and I can be 100% sure about this because I have my water softener connected to the hot water only. This is how I wanted it to be setup. I do not want my drinking water softened any more than it is, I actually have a separate filter for that anywaySo, I did two tests, and as you can see from the photo. Green is the hot water tap result, and light brown is the cold water tap result. In a nutshell my hot water is soft, and my drinking water is mildly soft. Perfect!All-in-all a conclusive result and there are plenty of strips to last a very long timeWould I recommend this product? 100% YES!

Bought these to test our water after our household water softener seemed to stop working. We weren’t sure whether the softener had stopped working as the water started to feel hard to us and scum seemed to build up on shower screens. Did multiple tests with these strips and each time hardness level showed up as ‘soft’. Had the softener device engineer out and our machine is completely dead and needs replacing. His test kit revealed our water is hard so while easy to use, these strips don’t work. Waste of money

Does what it says on the tin. No.issues and easy to use to yest hard and soft water

I've been waiting for something as simple and easy as this ever since I've had a water softener, so 15+ years. It's really easy to use, doesn't need batteries and this batch will likely last longer than I will. Great value too.

Easy to use and results are easy to understand. Shelf life is short though for at home testing.

Brilliant spot on easy to use

The colours on the box/strips (green to red) are nothing like as vivid as in the ad photos making it very difficult to judge outcomes. I have no colour blindness, and have been a science teacher for 30 years so am used to such test strips for a range of uses. I tested a range of waters, native (hard where we are), 3 different types of filter (tap, car wash and coffee machine), boiled and rain water.Only Rainwater showed any difference, but even that wasn't anywhere zero as you'd expect.I tested with an electronic meter which clearly showed the differences in dissolved solids, unlike these strips. The window cleaning filter has half the hardness ppm as tap.Underwhelmed. I wouldn't put trust in this kit.
