I bought this filter and drip maintenance kit(instead you could use G 1/4" metal nut and a couple of rubber rings as well). Use 2 bottles: 1.5 liters for dirty water and 5 liters for clean. Cut off the nose from the small bottle and drill a 15mm hole in the bottom. Use filter up side down regarding to bottle. Use 2 rubber rings and nut to fix the filter inside the small bottle. The filter stays in place even better and safer than in the original drip filter, because the bottom of the small bottle is quite flex and the ouput nose of the filter could not be damaged when the filter goes a little bit side ways from the vertical direction. Hang the small bottle right over the nose of the big bottle and bingo - you made the excellent water filter system. Moreover - you have great portability. Just dry your filter and take it with you to the new place and easiliy with 2 new bottles you can rebuild the filter system.The expences: 50 eur for filter and 5 eur for nut and rings. 2 bottles.You don't need to buy expensive Katadyn water drip system with 3 filters itself - plastic boxes for hundreds of euro.The VALUE: The filter gives 5 liters per day clean as a tear and safe water which is more than enough for one man. I use 3 big 5 liters botles for clean water rotation. Of course it does not remove chlor and heavy metals and does not play around taste. If you care about this - use cheapest carbon prefilter. The resource of this filter is 50000 liters - let's assume it lasts just 15000 liters - around 1/3 of declared. Having in mind you need 5 liters per day, it means 3000 days - around 8 years with 1/3 resource and 25 years with full resource. The price of the liter clean water is from 0.001 cent(full resource) to 0.003 cent(1/3 resource).I put another such filter in my emergency kit - there is no more valuable thing than clean water when you need it.Thanks Katadyn for such amazing product!

A replacement for a Ceradyn filter element that was in use for 12 years in a RV. The new one is like a carbon copy of the old, so most likely to perform equally well, but impossible to totally judge before years of use.

the tap water where I live is chalky and any tea and coffee made with it is bad. I got sick of carrying bottles of water from the shops so started to use rain water filtered and then boiled. I will continue to buy these every year to ensure my water is healthy to drink.
