KatadynCeradyn Replacement Filter Element

This filter is excellent. I have used Katadyn foto over 40 years!

Exactly what we wanted to replace an overused candle in our Katadyn water filter. It works perfectly, just like Katadyn filters do! Our only disappointment was that it didn't come with it's own plastic wing nut to screw the candle into the filter -- the previous plastic wing nut had broken and we assumed a new candle would come with it's own new one, but...sadly, we're still using a metal wing nut of the same size (which rusts!) until we get to the USA and can find a replacement.

we used the gravadyn before with charcoal. these have silver inside which kills bacteria and viruses. we use it for rainwater so we're not as concerned with improving the taste by using charcoal.. also the ceraadyn lasts much longer for similar money. the first ones we got were damaged due to faulty packaging by amazon. they replaced them and fortunately the next ones came undamaged although the packaging was still pathetic.

I purchased a set of two replacement filters for my Katadyn Ceradyn water filtration system and am completely satisfied with them. The price was the best I could find anywhere, shipping was fast and the packaging was very protective with the ceramic filters arriving in perfection condition. Having experienced major power outages during the past two years from hurricanes, violent thunderstorms and even an earthquake that didn't knock the power out, having a back-up for every essential need seems the smart thing to do. If we don't take care of ourselves, nobody else will do it for us.dandre- Chester, VA

Prospective buyers, please beware that this filter element DOES NOT come with a threaded nut to secure this filter to your filter housing. I guess Katadyn assumes that if you are buying this replacement filter, that you already have one. However, since I was buying this filter element to put inside my Big Berkey Stainless Steel Housing gravity filter, I did not have one. After buying some Doulton Ceramic candles from a different website (gravityfilter dot com), I was able to get the gentleman to toss in a "katadyn threaded washer" with my order. Gravityfilter dot com sells all sorts of filter elements for gravity filters. I am not saying that they are the Cheapest, but this website was rather convenient in that they had all the things I was looking for. After EXTENSIVE research, I have been able to conclude that the Black Berkey Filter Elements that are included with the Big Berkey fitlers are NOT adequate nor are they superior to these katadyn filter elements. All in all I am happy with this Katadyn filter element and will use it in an emergency. However, I do prefer the Doulton Ceramic candles for reasons which you can read on my Berkey review.

We have used these filters for about 14 years in Ghana West Africa. They make the water taste great and remove the fear of water borne disease or parasites. We buy a case of bottled water when we arrive and then just refill them from from the filter. We used to buy the "purified" water in the cellophane bags but got sick from some mold one time and changed to this filter. Been very happy since.

The box containing this filter was beat up and water stained. The filter itself does not look new, and has no plastic film or other wrapping around it. There are no inserts or other materials inside the box. In short, I strongly suspect this filter was used prior to being repackaged and sent to me.
