CTEK(56-958) MUS 4.3 POLAR 12 Volt Fully Automatic Extreme Climate 8 Step Battery Charger

I’m sure this is a quality charger but I was very disappointed that the connect cables meant to go from the battery to the charger itself are not nearly long enough for my 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. I was hoping to install the cable permanently and run it through my front grill and not have to lift the hood of the vehicle each and every time to connect the charger. Since I have a parasitic draw on the battery I have to plug the vehicle in each time I leave it parked to ensure it will start. For the price you pay for this charger it should come with longer cables or they should include their extra connect cable for free. I had to fork out another $20 for one. I had a Noco battery maintainer before this one and their cables were plenty long enough and their alligator clamps were much larger and easier to use.

Impressed with the quality of the CTE MUS 4.3 Polar charger. Currently plugged in to maintain the battery in my car that has been parked for the winter, and our winters can get down to -35C or -31F in January and February. I have been checking the battery once a week and the charger seems to be maintaining the charge. I would not hesitate to recommend this charger, specially since it is standard equipment in new Ferrari's and Koenigsegg cars (according to Jay Leno, who also uses this brand of battery charger).**February 2018 Update - the wire insulation for the "Comfort Connect Clamp" (the positive and negative cable that goes to the clamps) became brittle with the cold weather (-20 C), cracked and exposed the wires. I wrapped the exposed wire with electrical tape and the unit continued to function well. Ive contacted CTEK to find out where I can purchase replacement "Comfort Connect Clamps" and have received no response. Disappointed that the unit is marketed as "made for cold weather" but their wires are not built for the cold weather. Even more disappointing that their customer service cannot even reply to a simple question.

This is the original Battery Maintainer that BMW rebrands with their own logo and sells in Dealerships and on the website. Every function is present in this unit to keep your battery healthy over winter time storage, or simply just keeping the battery juiced between uses. Easy to install. Recommended for all BMWs as they get finicky when the vehicles battery loses charge/volts.

I have had problems with a couple vehicles keeping the batteries charged during harsh winters. This is the third go at a battery tender for indoor / outdoor applications, so far its works great, no issues. I had a new 94R battery go totally flat last week over a few weeks (unrelated) and this brought it back in 24 hours. The cable connectors are a great idea and the clamps are well designed and manufactured, there are also other options available that show vehicle battery status when not being charged that I am testing before I order more for my other vehicles

Owned this product for three weeks - used in the cold weather the entire time. The day time temperature here was minus 16 celcius for several of the days that I used the device (and colder at night). The "cold-weather rated cables" that are provided on this device DO NOT remain flexible as advertised. Additionally, the shorter clamping cable is the same part provided with the non-polar models of CTEK products - and NOT at all compatible with typical cold weather here in Alberta. The protective plastic cover over the positive clamp was loose out-of-the-box, and the device DID NOT cycle through the entire 8-step process during any of the multiple times that it was used. Finally, the device would get too hot to touch when left on for several hours on a healthy name-brand battery in service for 1 year.Returned for credit, very disappointed in CTEK products.
