Q: What is the difference between the Blackstrap hood and the Blackstrap expedition hood?

The Blackstrap expedition hood is a bit thicker than the regular Blackstrap hood. They are both versatile as far as how you wear them goes, and both fit well under helmets. The expedition hood is basically a double layer of the regular hood - not as thick as fleece or wool. Both are great! I have the expedition hood because I didn’t want to risk being cold (I get whiny otherwise), but my boyfriend has the regular one and really likes it. He does wear a thin buff with it sometimes though.

Q: How wind resistant and breathable is the material?

I am really happy with this balaclava. you can pull down the front if too warm. I feel it keeps the wind out well and keeps you warm. Seems reasonably breathable. I haven't had a problem.

Q: Is this face mask water resistant for rainy cold days

It is not water proof, but it is made of a very thick, double layer of a heavy duty expandex. I use it for skiing in very cold conditions. It works great. Totally recommendable!

Q: What is the difference between the Blackstrap hood and the Blackstrap expedition hood?

The expedition version is a double layer of material throughout the hood. I've used both snowboarding, and I definitely feel the wind less with the expedition.
