We have 8 family members. Could you play with more people if you used 2 sets of the game?

WE had 5 play with one game so I'm sure with 2 games you could have 8. WE also found that 4 and 5 year olds could play it.

Is this a good game for a child turning 6 to play with his parents and grandmother?

Yes. 6 is a perfect age! We started playing this game with a 6 year old and a 3 year old. The 3 year old, of course, needed help each turn. Our 6 year old, once she understood the rules after the first game, picked out Qwirkles faster than we could. She absolutely loved the challenge. A perfect game that is fun for both young and older minds.

I read a few reviews that said the tiles were plastic. The description on Amazon says wood. So...wood or plastic?

They are wood, unless you buy the "collectors edition", which are then plastic. But the colors wear off the plastic ones within a year.

how big are the squares? I would like to order it for my mother (alzheimers) but she doesn't see well.

I think they are about 1 1/2 inch square
