My grandfather always told me, use the right tool for the job. I, being far too clever, tried to save a few dollars by using pliers instead of this tool. Should have listened to grandpa. This makes the job quick, easy and fool proof. It seems very robust and has worked very well for me.

Just maybe, if you have a business where you install equipment such as car stereos and use Anerdon Powerpole connectors daily, you *might* want a more expensive crimper. But most ofus will never install more than a few dozen Powerpole pairs in our lifetimes. I certainly expect my crimper to outlast me. It's solidly built with great precision. It works well. Hey, it even looks good ... well, good for a Powerpole crimper, anyway.As for Anderson Powerpoles themselves, they are fast becoming the standard for 12-volt DC connections in Amateur Radio, RVs, boats and other uses where solid, dependable electrical connections are essential. Don't buy off-brand "powerpoles" parts, and don't use crimpers that aren't made for this very specific purpose.
