Great value.
We have about 6 of these on our assembly lines and some of them have been in service for at least a couple years. So far we have no complaints and no failures. We use them to hold up our electric and pneumatic screwdrivers.

Good but not heavy duty
Good for light work load. Used it holding a 12 pound sewing machine, lasted a few weeks

You get what you pay for.
I have several of these that I hung using low end pocket/sliding door hardware for trolleys and track. These balancers aren't very smooth on the cable's release/return. Care must be taken when adjusting tension or the knob will forcefully unwind, smashing any finger tips in its way.A "real" tool balancer, trolley, and trolley frame rail system costs $700-2,000. My DIY system was <$75 per station for a pair of balancers and trolleys mounted on a 2x4 frame. Very happy with the compromise between cost and performance.

Broke instead of "stopping"
Unfortunately, I ran into a similar quality issue as others here. I guess because it's made with a lot of plastic, if you get to the end of the line, there is no real "stop" here -- the entire casing just sorta pops open and then it's shot. It'd be nice if was like most any other retractable device and had a "stop" so you can't accidentally pull it too far.

Bird feeders!
The BEST thing I have come across for my bird feeders!! I just reach up grap the feeder, pull it down, attach a cord and let it go back up. Fill the feeder, pull the grab cord and reattach the feeder. I love these things I've purchased 6.

Horrible product and seller.
This item failed after just one use. Then seller refused to replace or refund this item as it had been 34 days due to purchase and shipping. Do not buy from this seller unless you want your money stolen.

Just OK. Got what I paid for.
VERY short cable inside....not nearly long enough to hang from a ceiling and connect your tool to without a significant extension.The spring does adjust and does have the proper tension needed.
