Q: Can you fit a small water bottle in one of the outside end pockets? Ideally would like to carry umbrella in one, water in the other and iPad Pro

Not really, atleast with a dslr. The side , front and back pockets are very tight and leaves room for an extra battery, cleaning cloth , lens cap or something like that. Anything you would want to put in them must be thin.

Q: Does this bag scratch easily?

It scratches very easy. Just leaving it in the back seat of a vehicle will cause scratches in the finish. Its the nature of the finish. Definitely unavoidable no matter what. I don't really use mine much but I figure over time the more use it gets will break it in and in the long run it will have a nice natural worn look. All positive features of this case in my opinion

Q: Would this fit my Sony a7riii with Sony zeiss f1.4 50mm prime attached?

It fits my GH5 with all but the longest lens's attached. For example-GH5 and Panasonic Leica 42.5 mm fits attached with plenty of room to spare. This is my favorite camera bag. It's stylish and has a quality build and stiching but the padding is not real firm so not sure if it will offer your camera much protection if you were to drop it. Compare your camera specs to mine to give you an idea as to fit. Hopefully someone has your combo and can offer their experience with your camera and this bags fit.
