Softens and tames without the stiffness of wax, I love it
I wasn't expecting too much from this, and it's my 6th or 7th beard balm I've tried in the last year or so. My beard is curly/wavy and typically very frizzy. This balm is pretty hard, reminds my of a deodorant bar (texture wise) but it smooths out nicey when rubbed between the palms, and gives a great hold to my beard. It doesn't feel stiff like a beard wax, but makes my beard soft and manageable. Even if my beard does start to poof up I can usually just smooth it down with my hands and it stays in place. If I apply it at 6am I usually could use more by 4-5pm. I should mention that I need to use a glob about 3x the size of a single pea (as recommended above), but even the smaller size seems like it will last a well and I'm happy with the value. It doesn't seem oily and I didn't really notice any increase in my beard's shininess as advertised, but i'm ok with that. The smell is a little strong, my wife doesn't care for it much, and the best way I can describe it is it smells like head and shoulders shampoo, maybe slightly sweeter, but the scent lasts a while and took me a couple days to get used to. I've had strong smelling balms before that after 10 minutes you couldn't notice it, but this I still notice an hour or two later. After that, it does fade but you can still smell it if you try. It feels like it does a good job moisturizing, I haven't noticed any flakes. If you're looking for something that gives a good amount of hold without being stiff, makes your beard feel healthy and soft, and don't mind a semi-strong, sweet smell give this one a try. You might be pleasantly surprised as I was.

I love this stuff.
Honestly I'd call it beard butter instead of balm, Balm is a word that a lot of people have different ideas about, a lot of stuff called "balm" is harder at room temp, requiring me to scrape it with my fingernail, like wax. This is "spreadable" so if you're thinking butter it's harder to disagree. But I keep coming back to this stuff because it spreads well and smells wonderful. Plus the scent doesn't just go away in 5 minutes. I can bring my beard back up to my nose and breathe deep for a refresh.

Good product
I like the scent the hold was a little less than I was hoping for but overall a good product.

With this on the market, why does anyone else even try?
Look, I haven't tried every beard care product out there, but I have tried several. Of the 5-7 or so balms, waxes, oils that I have experimented with, Prophet and Tools balm is, by far, the best. Honestly, I don't know why this is not how everybody makes their balm. I like to have a relatively straight beard, and so I blow dry my beard after showering and shampooing it everyday before I get ready for work. The problem with frequent blow-drying, is that it will dry out your beard and make it brittle and gross. Enter Prophet and Tools. Each morning after blow-drying and combing my beard, I get out the Prophet and Tools, scrape a bit out of the jar, rub it in my hands, and massage it into my beard. Then as I comb my beard again things go exactly into place, right where I want them. My beard feels softer and it looks great. The only downside is that if you use too much, the beard will feel a little bit oily or greasy throughout the day. This is easy to avoid if you are careful with how much you use, but it is definitely a possibility. However, even when it has been a big greasy, I have never noticed any stains on my shirts or anything like that. I find the smell to be almost unnoticeable, which is what I like. That way I can still use a scented aftershave or cologne of my preference without it interfering with a heavily scented balm. I would definitely recommend this product to anybody with a beard they are trying to tame or keep healthy.

Cumbersome but it works... kinda
The beard balm is OK. I'm not the biggest fan of the product simply because (1) I didnt notice it make much of a difference in my beard or skin underneath and (2) it was cumbersome and messy to apply. After using the balm I only noticed a slight difference in the appearance of my beard. It looked slightly more shiny but it didn't provide any drastic improvement in my beard appearance or my skin underneath. Note I am saying it didn't provide an DRASTIC improvement, there was a SLIGHT improvement, just much less than i was expecting. The application of the product itself was a bit cumbersome as well. When trying to get the balm out of the container I had to scrap it with the handle of a spoon. The material is considerably hard, almost like a chap stick type of material, and therefore needs to be scraped out. When you apply it to your face it feels like what i would imagine chap stick would feel like if I smeared it all over my face. The product overall is tolerable and i guess it fulfills the need it was set out to do since it did make a slight difference; but, I wont be buying this product again; the experience isn't work spending my money on again.

Very good, light beard balm
This is hands-down my favorite beard balm so far...and I've purchased a few. Probably like 5 or so.Does that make me slightly insane? Maybe. The problem is, my beard is pretty coarse, and wants to fly away...right off my face. It REALLY wants to.So, I looked up what to do about it...beard oils, beard waxes, beard balms, you name it.I like beard oils, and still use them as a primer, to soften my beard...but the waxes...meh. They don't really do much for me.Onto this balm/wax. This melts very easily when rubbed in your hand, and it applies very nicely to the beard. It's like the perfect combination of a wax and oil all in one. Oddly enough, even though it is lighter than a wax, it seems to hold my beard in place better than stronger, thicker waxes, yet leaves no buildup or flakes. Good stuff. The smell...they call it a citrus scent...and maybe it is similar to that, and it's not unpleasant...but I have yet to find a scent that I really like a lot. But...the scent is ok, and it doesn't linger all day, unlike some others I've tried, which can get annoying.Overall, this is the best I've used so far, and the price is a great deal. If you are on the fence, I say give this balm a try.
