As an EMT, these seem to be as good as the ones in the ambulance. Flexible enough to form and strong enough to support. This is one of those things you keep in your first aid kit and hope to never use.

Great, cheap alternative to the SAM splint. They're inexpensive enough to keep several of them in my various kits, and they work great. They stand up to multiple uses, too.Not quite as strong as the name brand SAM splints, and the aluminum in them is a little narrower. That said, still perfectly useful for most arms and ankles.Pro tip: these are transparent to x-rays so you can leave them in place when having x-rays taken at the doctor (tested personally).

My horse cut her leg reel bad l didn't want to have her put down so l used these and after 3 months changing her bandage and keeping her foot from bending she healed up and she walking like nothing happened thank to this great splint for keeping leg straight

needed soft splints for my search and rescue packs, these fit the bill perfectly , much cheaper than the brand name item, but works just as good, flat pack that it comes in works great in my packs and first aid kits, will be ordering more of these soon.

Seems to be every bit as good as a SAM splint. I bought this to put in my Search and Rescue go-pack as a lower cost alternative to the SAM. The first aid items I carry are for me and our team (we carry additional for the subject) so I knew I wanted something high quality but low cost since I HOPE to never need to use it! This fits the bill well. Will buy again next time I am making up any 1st Aid kit.Buy this one if you don't need a brand name, or a blue side on your splint.Also buy this one if you, like me, want it flat instead of rolled

I just bought three different SAM-type splints on Amazon and they seem comparable:(a) SAM brand, $13.49, Made in USA(b) Everready 4.25 X 36 Inch Padded Aluminum Splint, $6.16, Made in China(c) Dixie 4.25 X 36 Inch Padded Aluminum Splint, $5.87, Made in ChinaAs far as stiffness goes, they are all about as stiff and to me, the SAM seems to be the limpest of them all.They weigh different amounts, could be foam weight, could be aluminum weight, could be both. In same order as above, weights are:(a) 123g(b) 149g(c) 140gThe only big difference I see, besides instructions printed on the splint, is smell.(a) No smell(b) Slight petrochem smell(c) Slight petrochem smell.B and c come folded. I smoothed them out and rolled them just like the SAM brand. The fact that they were folded did not seem to affect my ability to roll them or form splints into desired shapes.
