Easy way to have it on hand without spoiling.
Have not used it yet. Smaller sized pieces which is better for cooking and adding flavor to foods. Great price, much more convenient than buying fresh every time I need to use it.

Galangal root good for tea
These little woody pieces are very unassuming until you add them to tea. That's when the flavor awakens and I was surprised how good it became.

Very good, also called sand ginger
I bought this to add to homemade Sichuan chili oil. I ground a few of the pieces to a powder to use in another recipe. Very aromatic. Not sure how to describe the aroma & taste. Sort of a sharp, mildly floral aroma & taste. Not like regular ginger at all. I do like it, I will experiment with using this in many other dishes.

Threw out my Tom Ka soup - culprit Sand Ginger
I believe this new ingredient made me very I’ll for several hours.I don’t know what it supposed to smell like or what the white powder on this product is but it doesn’t smell good and certainly does not have a ginger flavor. I trusted it based on generally good reviews. After googling it I found some legit disturbing info and will never use this again. I ended up tossing what should have been a delicious soup. Upon smelling it the next morning my stomach did a somersault. My advice is to pay attention inhale the fragrance thoughtfully and let your senses be the judge. Trust your instincts even if it conflicts with your new Gordon Ramsey cookbook.

Looks like the real thing
I have not tried it yet, I will be making chili oil soon, but I need to get all the ingredients first, which are hard to find in store, so looking foward!
