I recently moved & updated my vanity store area to an actual desk, also an Amazon find. The manufactured wood on the desk & the clear table mat are typically not a hood idea to mix with heat tools. Additionally, I have an old padded travel carrier for individual heat tools which is helpful for last minute packing of really hot tools but did not provide a good surface to rest while using- and I'm many cases I would be plugged into one of the few good outlets which may or may not be in the bathroom but was almost all the time in front of the large room mirror stealing the coffee maker's plug. I use this as a rest surface and to wrap up the heat tool when finished or traveling.

Great for travel. Now can put my curling iron right into the suitcase fire using it and I’m on my way.

This item worked great! I usually end up wrapping my curling iron in a rag and then worry about it causing a fire. This was safer to use, and easily fit both my styling wands. It also kept things more tidy while staying in a hotel, and I didn't have to worry about anybody getting accidentally burned. Other than a slight plastic/silicone smell upon arrival, there was no smell from storing a heated element. Also, the glove works perfectly, because one of the rows of teeth on my curling iron keeps falling out, unbeknownst to me, and I have burned my hand several times. Won't have to worry about that anymore!
