Good value, plan your layout
My cabinet was shipped via Sportsman's Guide (June 2012), and when it arrived all four corners were bent. I don't blame Sportsman's Guide for this, as it was the manufacturer's packaging, and after reading all of the reviews for the product I basically expected it to happen. A few minutes with a dead blow rubber mallet put the corners back into respectable shape. Installation is relatively simple if you've planned your location and don't encounter anything unexpected in the wall. The instructions are very basic, and don't bother to mention simple things like drilling pilot holes for the bolts.I would definitely recommend planning the layout of your guns inside of the cabinet before installation (i.e. while it's flat on a floor). If your guns have sights or attachments of any kind, assume you will only fit two long guns (sideways). I installed a Tornado U-hook (with orange rubber arms) from Home Depot and hanged my rifle (with T6-style stock) facing down (worked beautifully). Doing this saved a lot of room towards the bottom of the cabinet, with lots of space for handguns, magazines, etc. Installing other hooks or even pre-installing screws (with the threads on the inside of the cabinet) for future hooks would be well worth your time.Overall, the product is what I expected. I would not consider it a 'safe' in the true sense of the word. I trust it so far as to keep the neighborhood children from touching my guns, but a determined individual could probably have it compromised within several minutes with a few choice tools. I don't yet have a large gun collection, and it suits my purposes until the day I need an actual safe.

Much Better Than Expected
I am very happy with this safe. It seems to be well built and it was easy to install. Some tips about the install... I used the box to make a template then I used security bolts from Home Depot on the outside and their lag bolts on the inside. I used a dremel tool for to make the inside pilot holes. This case is very shallow; well it is the thickness of a stud. I could only fit two rifles in it, but it is exactly what I neededMy main use of this safe is to keep little paws out. This safes discreetness was a huge bonus for me.This is a great buy for someone that wants a medium security at minimum price.Another cool thing on amazon is the Game Controller Rack, if your kids rooms a mess check this out ...Video Game Controller Rack - The Armory - Holds Xbox 360 Wireless Game Controller, USB or Sony Playstation 3 Sixaxis - OFF White

Homak Between The Studs Tall Safe
Well, as 99% of the other reviews on here, it came with a bent corner. Mine wasn't bad at all. I just whacked it a few times with a hammer and it was good as new. Installation was fine except for one thing. THE SUPPLIED BOLTS TOTALLY SUCK ! DON'T USE THEM ! The one I received seemed like they were made of aluminum or extremely cheap steel. Half of mine snapped off which was extremely frustrating. Buy yourself some top quality graded hardened bolts from the hardware store. You can also buy hardened security bolts where you need a special tool to install them. This holds exactly (1) AR-15/AR-10 with a scope. It might hold 2 hunting rifles or shotguns without scopes. There is a ton of room up top, so I will be machining shelves for ammo and accessories. My only real complaint which really freaking pissed me off was that on the front of the safe, it came with two stickers. One peels right off. The "Caution" sticker took me longer to get off than it did to install the safe. I ended up using an old t-shirt with some acetone to get it off. And lots of scraping. The double tubular lock works well. It activates a large side bar and a top bar to prevent prying. This product has tons of potential to be a 4 or even a solid 5 star product. So Homak pay attention and I guarantee you will sell more of these. Or use some of these to make an upgraded model.1) Supply decent hardware. Not the cheapest, crappiest bolts you can find.2) Use a different adhesive on the "caution" sticker. That sticker is just really pissing people off trying to remove it.3) Put some Styrofoam on the corners of your box ! Practically every single customer on here with a review has received their safe with bent corners. FIX THIS ALREADY !!!4) Just a suggestion here, but don't put "Homak Security" embossed on the outside door. This is supposed to be hidden. That doesn't help.5) Add some "s" hooks or even better some eye hooks up top. that way I could use a wire cable bike lock to lock up my pistols too.6) Add an ammo shelf or two up top.I really like the fact that I can conceal this in my wall easily. It would be much, much harder to find versus a gigantic regular gun safe. I watched hundreds of videos on You Tube about gun safes. Until you send $10,000 and up, the lower cost safes are easy to get into using an angle grinder. Someone can get into almost any safe in under 5 minutes with one of those. At least they will have to look much harder for it. In spite of my few complaints, I would still recommend one if your in the market for a good safe.

BENT AND CHEAP
MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THAT THIS SAFE IS VERY SHALLOW. AND IT WILL MOST LIKELY SHOW UP BENT ON MOST OF THE CORNERS. IT IS NOT A WELL BUILT SAFE. JUST KNOW WHAT YOU WANT IN A SAFE BEFORE YOU BUY THIS ONE.

Pretty good, could be better
Packaging of the item was good. There were no dings and dents. Paint is of high quality and done very well. Spot welds holding the piece together are marginal, with one spot weld that had broken apart. The piano hinge is good quality, but the aluminum rivets holding it to the case are too weak. The internal locking mechanism is to deep, such that it limits the ability to hold multiple fire arms in the cabinet. This is really a 2 gun, side by side cabinet not a 3 gun. I was able to hold a scoped bolt action 7mm Rem Mag and semi auto 12 ga sitting sideways in this cabinet. They should really make the cabinet 1/4" narrower, as mine required persuasion and stud trimming to fit in my wall cavity. I'm sure it's because my studs were not the perfect distance apart. To state the obvious, this will not keep out a professional theif if they know it's there. It is not a safe, it's a lockable steel cabinet. However, it easily conceals behind a door and will keep out kids and honest people.
