This item was a replacement for a (not very old) one that didn’t work. The only glitch was one of the wires was soldered so it took extra effort to get the wires to stay in

My fireplace has been intermittently working for the last couple years. I didn't use it all summer long and when I tried to use it to get warm, it refused to light. I checked everything and couldn't get the pilot light to come back on and there was no manual pilot ignition on my fireplace.I bought this control module in the hopes that it was just something this simple... sure enough, it was. I was able to swap over the units 1 wire at a time and as soon as I was done, the fireplace came back to life. Saved me a $200 service call and waiting more than 2 months for the local shop to get to me.!

I have a wall outlet to start my fireplace and recently when I hit the switch, the fireplace would not fire up. Could no longer hear the clicking of the ignition. The Service tech fee was going to be $180 just to come out and inspect + the cost of the marked up part prices or like most victims, the service tech will say that you need the whole fireplace replaced which could cost you thousands. I took the advice of the other hundred + reviews on here and bought this module and very happy I did. Easy plug in and FIRE! Took less time to change it out than making a ham sandwich or waiting for dial up internet back in the 90's. Now I'm hungry and need that samich!

About a year ago, our 8 YO Heat-N-Glo gas fireplace started acting up.We had to flip the wall switch 3-4 times to get it to light.One service place came out, changed the wall switch for $175 and called it good.It was not.After about 12 months of this, it refused to start.I called the other local fireplace service shops (plural) and what a joke.All they wanted to do was charge me for a cleaning ($200 and up), and then "go from there."None of them stated the obvious - that the ignition module was bad.Finally, I found a video that pinpointed this as a bad module.After all of about three minutes (as one reviewer stated, less time than it takes to make a ham s'maich!) this was installed and the fireplace now starts right up!
