I purchased this product to replace one I'd received as a gift that I've apparently lost in the ensuing years. It's useful to have a breathalyzer at home when you have company over just to forestall any guests' arguments of "But I feel fine to drive!" While we don't have many people over these days due to the pandemic, my parents do stop by after I've gotten a negative COVID-19 test and frequently have a glass of wine or a beer with dinner. Lately they've been expressing feeling the effects of even a single drink, so I decided it's time to invest in a new breathalyzer to see if they've just become lightweights during quarantine or if they're actually becoming impaired from one drink. Better safe than sorry!While I certainly don't have bloodwork to compare this to for accuracy, based on my preliminary testing, it is providing the readings I would expect so I'm happy so far. Both my partner and I have tested this without consuming any alcohol, and both got the anticipated 0.00 reading, and after a drink or two. For example, about half an hour after drinking a small glass of wine, I got 0.027 (which is about what I'd expect).I don't tend to drink a lot more than a glass or two in an evening, so I haven't tested it at higher B.A.C. levels, but the lower end results give me confidence in this device's accuracy. I am pleased with how quickly this gives readings and how easy it is to use. You don't have to blow out all your air for it to work, which is nice. The kit includes enough mouthpieces for several people and they seem durable enough that I could clean them and reuse them. I also received a card in the box for a prize with my purchase (haven't checked it out, so not sure what it is!), which was an unexpected bonus.Now to the caveats: as with most any breathalyzer, you have to wait 20 minutes after eating or drinking for accurate results. It's kind of inconvenient, but even the small keychain breathalyzer I had years ago had the same requirement, so it's par for the course. The more important thing to keep in mind is that if someone SEEMS too impaired to drive, they ARE! Some people can be more impacted by the effects of alcohol than others, even in low doses, and you can get a DUI with a B.A.C. below 0.08. I would never use this as the only factor determining if someone is safe to drive! However, I like to have one at home in case someone insists they're OK to drive and refuses to listen to reason. It's harder to argue with a breathalyzer!I'll test this product again next time I have guests or if anyone drinks more than what we've already tested and will update my review accordingly if I find the results to be less accurate then, but for now, I'm happy to recommend this product for someone looking for the extra peace of mind when drinking or letting guests drive home. I'd still encourage you to use your best judgement even with low range results, and if in doubt, don't drive!

this sucks. had it a week and continues to throw the same result over and over… after a few errors here and there. tried everything. thing is trash

i think mine is not working properly. it will say .02 even without alcohol; so then i have to turn it off and back on to re-do the test. i have my doubts about it's accuracy. I'm going to buy another brand

OK I'm coming back to review this. I originally had given it three stars for accuracy. I don't drink but I've tested it on several people who do. My first two tests seemed all over the place but the more I test it it's not that bad. If you are looking to have a drink and want to make sure to the T you are under the line probably not the best product. But if you were wanting a general idea it's fine - as far as I can tell... Like I said in my original review the instructions should best be read with a comedic mindset. Godspeed

This is an easy portable device that takes all the guessing out of should I drive or call an Uber. Often times I think I'm fine after a couple beers but not taking into account food in my stomach or fatigue. This takes the guesswork and potentially deadly results. I'll have one beer but on an empty stomach and I'll read over the limit and wait 30 min and then be legal. Honestly has changed my thoughts about having drinks out.I also thought having 3 2.4% beers in two hours I would have almost no bal, wrong it's a .056 consistently. Great machine and its idiot proof as this idiot can attest to. Also came with lots of washable mouth pieces so if you're at a party and lots of others don't want to share an Uber once they blow your bill will be divided much more rapidly lol. Buy this and don't regret your choices. Having the numbers right there starring you in the face DOES make a difference. Wish I'd bought this sooner.

I have had this breathalyzer for about 2 weeks now and have been able to test it out multiple times with various people and it is very easy to use. I have yet to blow above a 0.016 which matched someone half my size who drank the same amount so it is tough to trust the accuracy but regardless it is fun, easy to use, and helpful to better understand how BAC affects you.Other comments would be that the sling to loop around the item was very hard to install, took a needle and thread because the entry loop was so small. Also, the instructions had a lot of misspellings, probably because of translation issues, but luckily it is easy enough to use that they were not really needed.

I bought 2 of them and got 2 totally way off readings out of each 1 of them. I would blow into 1 and get a .05 BAC and then blow into the other 1 and get a .13 BAC. Then repeat and get a whole different readings using the same machine. I wouldn't recommend this product since it is so inconsistent you wont know where you stand
