Unfiltered Raw Buckwheat Honey 80 oz. (5 lb.) bottle

This is the only honey I eat. There is a bit of an off aroma to this product but the flavor is distinct. I may purchase a local honey for the immune system benefits but I will try to always have buckwheat honey on the shelf.

Buckwheat honey has a very special flavor that my wife, a bit of a honey aficionado, really enjoys.

That I can get Buckwheat honey at all is why I love the product.

I have ordered Sandts Buckwheat Honey multiple times and always been very pleased, but this time the honey was a very light colored amber (like light rum) versus the usual dark brown (like dark rum) and had no real buckwheat flavor. I assume this was mixed with clover honey. I will not reorder this again.Doug Woolley

The product is terrific. I also like the Raw Amish which is a little richer in flavor. I will say that some people may take issue with the container. It is semi-rigid plastic which means that, when you grab the container, it could squeeze and be difficult to handle. Two hands are probaby the best way. They also have smaller containers that are glass.

I'm currently using this for a mead. The flavor is rich and the smell is very pungent. Meadmaking forums warned that some buckwheat honeys (from the east coast) can be overwhelming: "horse barn" is the terminology. This must be west coast because while the flavor and scent is very strong it's not overwhelming. I recommend it. FYI to meadmakers: the scent is already mellowing nicely only a week after racking to secondary.

I used this in a batch of mead. So far it has been one of my favorite meads I have made. So much so that I ordered another 5 lbs to use in another batch I am getting ready to make.
