Would a ratchet block work well with a jib furling line and would it work well for reefing the jib?

yes and no. It depends on whether you use the 40mm or 57 mm ratchet block. The 40mm would be better for a Zuma. I suggest that you get a spring to keep the ratchet pointed up, otherwise it will flop around. I think Harken sells them by the pair.
