Better than OEM for the price.
I have an Amana portable air conditioner and I lost the remote. I was shocked to see that the OEM replacement was $90. This was clearly a better option. I read the reviews about it being hard to program but for the money I thought I'd give it a try. The remote arrived quickly and I programmed the code for my unit but it didn't work. However, the remote has a search feature and after 15 seconds I found the code and had a fully functional replacement. It was too easy.Even if your code doesn't work you can search the remote until you find one that works. Really, it couldn't be any easier.Oh, and as an added bonus, the remote has a thermostat on it. It doesn't do anything for me aside from displaying the temperature but I think that's cool.

functionality
i will not speak for other conditioners but for mine (spt) it just will not hold the code but fails after a day or two --- this is the 2nd unit i have had, 1st one qould work for a wek - the had to reprogram - till it failed completely .... that was when i found out there is a 30 day return winow (this is not indicated anywhere in discription) ----- Amazon was good enough to step in and get a replacement ---- this is the replacement i am refering to ---- got it programed it - it failed after a few days -- program -- failed again --------- i give up

Easy to use.
This item just arrived yesterday. The instructions are vague at best. It does give a list of codes for several different brands. I however didn't need to enter them in. I simply pressed the set up button while the conditioner was running and presto... works like a charm. Even better than the original that came with the unit when purchased. I don't recall the description saying that it has a built in thermometer but it indeed does. The unit takes two of the larger button type batteries and are included installed. There is a clear plastic tab that needs to be removed from the battery compartment before the unit is operable. For the Customer who requested the instructions for this device be included here I am going to attempt to do so now. Since the request was mainly for the codes and I couldn't scan the whole thing in, the page was too long so I thought the section with the codes was the important part.

I was initially very happy with this remote
I was initially very happy with this remote. It set up within seconds and worked perfectly. However,I went to use it the next day and discovered the LCD display was all messed upand it would no longer control the air conditioner. I tried two new batteries but it still doesn't work. It's probably a fluke ... just a bad unit.I'll return it and try getting a replacement and see if it lasts more than one day.

Works and I like the magnet mount strip
It was a bit frustrating at first since the listed code didn't work with my unit and I had to do the search method. A minor thing, though, to be able to use the air conditioner easily again. My unit is in an awkward place to get to every time I want to adjust it. The built in thermostat is ridiculously inaccurate, but fortunately it's just an extra rather than needed. Otherwise it works very well on my Kenmore. I also like that it has a magnet on the back. It doesn't get lost anymore, since I can affix it to a metal filing cabinet close to my workspace.

Works with LG LWHD1006R a/c unit
Worked with my LG LWHD1006R a/c conditioner using code 1655 which is the only code for LG on the manual. Buttons seem to work fine. The button like "Slow" for example if pressed more then once toggles the "Slow" "Medium" and "FAST" settings and pressing the MED or FAST button only cycles through the speeds instead of reflecting the speed indicated by the button. For example, if the current fan speed is on SLOW and you press the SLOW button again, the fan speed is now MED. If the current fan speed is SLOW and you press the FAST button, the fan speed is now MED. Other then that the buttons seem to work fine. The remote comes with 2 coin cell batteries CR2032. Remote received looks like the picture. The remote has a flat magnet on the back of it for convenient placing of the remote. IE, will stick to any metal surface like the a/c itself so you don't lose it which was a good idea. All buttons are rubber and feel like good quality. No clicking sounds when pressing the buttons. I like the fact that the remote has a built-in temperature display that is always on.

Does not work with my Friedrich air conditioner(s)
Item arrived promptly and in good shape. Seems like a nice remote with a good layout. Here are the issues: It does not work with my Friedrich AC(s). The AC is a newer model, but still had hopes this remote would work as the brand was listed.I ran through the setup using the codes supplied and no go. I followed the instructions further and input all codes and it still did not work. Please note that while several brand of AC's are listed, this remote appears to work with only certain model AC's within those brands.Remote only accepts codes that are supplied (1650 - 1678). Anything outside of that code range appears invalid. For giggles, I tested this on an older (different model) Friderich AC, and same issue. It did not work.Just to make sure, I tested the remote on a Frigidaire AC in my unit, and that did work, which tells me that the remote is functional and not defective. Unfortunately, I have no use for this remote for this particular AC, just for one of the two Friedrich AC's.Another quirk, was the display. The temperature kept changing for some reason, even though the remote couldn't connect to the Friedrich AC(s), and was incorrect when connected to the Frigidaire - I figured the display would be disabled instead since it couldn't connect to the Friedrich's and the feature most likely not supported from the Frigidaire.I guess you could say, take it with a grain of salt. It may work for some, but most definitely not all, and keep in mind even if your brand is listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it will work with your model number. Going to return remote.
