Furnace Off when Garage Door Open
I want to heat my garage this winter, but my kids keep leaving the door open when they are outside, so I used to end up heating the outside. I needed a fix for that situation, so I used these proximity switches to shut off my garage furnace when either garage door is opened. They were easy to install and the instructions made it clear how to do so. The included bracket and hardware made it easy to have options on how to install the magnet. I ended up with about an inch between the magnet and switch at close which is more than close enough to activate the switch. The switches are in a Closed position when the magnet is near and opens when the magnet moves away. I used this to create a loop circuit with my thermostat, and it works like a champ. Now I can keep my garage heated and not worry if my kids forget to close the garage as the furnace won't run with the door open.

Solid built contact switch
Solid product. Works great with MIMOlite Wireless Z-Wave Multi-Input/Output Dry Contact Bridge; Cert ID: ZC08-16040002 for sensing my garage door position (open/close status in Samsung Smartthings). I actually mounted it above the garage door on the wood brace. The magnet is simply super-glued onto the garage panel door. It only needs to be within a few inches to close the reed switch inside. If the garage door opens just a couple inches, the switch goes open. You will need to pick up some additional security multi-lead wire to extend the connection. The flex metal tube of wire on the switch is only a couple feet long.

Industrial Strength!
Exactly as described and shown in the image. Seems very solid. I did not mount this on the ground for my purpose but it seems if it was properly done in that manner and the cable was protected and secured it would do a great job. In my case it is securely mounted at the top of the garage door jam, and as solid as this is I cannot see anything happening to it until the internal magnetic contact wears out which may not be for decades. Great item especially for the price.

Works great with MIMOLite from FortrezZ
I used this in conjunction with a MIMOLite from FortrezZ so that the MIMOLite knows when the garage door is closed. It was relatively easy to connect to the rest of the system because my builder used a 2 pair alarm wire to connect the electric eye device, so I just used the spare pair for the door contact device. The switch is super easy to adjust to the correct distance. Instead of using masonry screws to screw the magnetic sensor into the garage door, I used some high strength adhesive. I used a wire brush to clean and prepare the concrete floor area where I used the adhesive, and the device has stayed stuck-down nicely.Good stuff!Thank you.

Responds instantly!
It works well and tied in with my Leviton security system and the SnapLink app, it allows me to access and monitor my garage doors without having to buy new openers that have My Q.

A winner
Not sure why anyone would want to floor mount this for a standard, sectioned garage door. I see that maybe with other door styles.I tossed the bracket and mounted it as in the photo. Hmmm, not seeing a photo option. Maybe after submit? Anyway, I mounted the magnet to the top corner side of the door and the switch under it to the 2x framing. Works fine.Took 5 minutes. No need to be particularly precise as it triggers at least 3" away from the magnet. And it's one of the least expensive sensors.

Great for garage heater
My better half has a tendency to leave our garage door open in the winter for unknown reasons, and I don't like heating the outdoors. I ran this between one wire in my natural gas garage heater, effectively telling the heater there is no call for heat (finishes its cooldown cycle) when the door is open. Door closes and completes the circuit again no issues. Works great. Mounted to the top of the garage door beam under the spring.

This fixed the broken sensor for my smarthome garage door controller.
This part was a perfect replacement for when the contact sensor broke on my smart home device. The contact sensor that came with the controller was very cheap, and I had to mount it super close together to get the magnets to work. They eventually broke and this contact sensor was a perfect replacement. It is SUPER burly, and it picks up the sensor from a good 3 inches away. I was able to simply splice it into the original wires on the controller and mout it to the wall and it was good to go. It's also made to be low profile and not stick out like the old one, so it's an upgrade all around.
